Scout Widget: Week 11 Sit-Start

The meat of the fantasy schedule has arrived. All "gimme" fantasy advice will be disregarded so we can answer the tough questions:
Quarterbacks
Start
Eli Manning vs. Falcons - The Giants had a bye week to prepare for the Falcons, whose pass defense is less than average. Eli will recapture some of his early season magic at home, so start him if you don't have an elite option at QB.
Donovan McNabb vs. Bears - The Eagles must believe NFL rules mandate that you run the ball no more than 15 times a game. McNabb will again throw like crazy, giving him plenty of chances to put up big numbers.
Kurt Warner vs. Rams - Same as last week.....Warner and the Cards should throw all over the Rams.
Ben Rothlisberger vs. Chiefs - Ben gets his revenge....the over/under on the number of Ben's successful stiff arms on K.C. linebackers is forty-five.
Sit
Matt Schaub vs. Titans - The Titans D has been rapidly improving since getting their secondary healthy....stay away Schaub owners...if you have other options.
Jay Cutler vs. Eagles - The Eagles do a good job on pass defenses, while the Bear WRs are average at best. Look for Cutler to get frustrated and throw three picks (at least).
Running Backs
Start
Ricky Williams vs. Panthers - With Ronnie out, Williams looks to have a big game ahead of him against a sad run defense. (I put this up a bit late, but all of you should have been starting him anyways.....)
Kevin Smith vs. Browns - The Browns do what they can on defense, but they will eventually get worn down because their offense can't do squat. Kevin Smith will have a solid day.
Pierre Thomas vs. Bucs - After a very disappointing game last week, he is just ...well.....flat out due to explode. That's the end of my logic.
Knowshon Moreno vs. Chargers - Knowshown finally looks to be the guy, but I would still be conservative with projections due to the finiky run game of the Broncos. Regardless, Moreno should be started with a chance to put up his biggest numbers of the year.
Sit
Ladell Betts vs. Cowboys - Betts could be worth a start if you have injuries, but the Cowboys will be ready to play after getting their butt whooped against the Pack. Only use if you are desperate.
Lawrence Maroney vs. Jets - While the Jets are usually a good matchup for running backs, Sammy Morris could take carries away from Maroney, especially at the goal line where Maroney fumbled last week.
Wide Receivers
Start
Hines Ward vs. Chiefs - The savvy veteran will nickle and dime his way to a 100 yard and a TD game.
Mario Manningham vs. Falcons - The Falcons have a had a difficult time stoping teams who like to throw, which is good news for Manningham. He and fellow Giants WR Steve Smith are solid starts this week.
Pierre Garcon vs. Ravens - The Ravens secondary is atrocious. With Wayne getting special attention, Garcon has the speed to beat the Ravens deep a few times.
Sit
Devin Hester vs. Eagles - This season isn't getting any easier for Jay Cutler, who will once again have trouble finding his targets. Watch for Hester to get Asante Samuel in coverage most of the day.....so you should sit him.
Randy Moss vs. Jets - Yes.....I crave attention. You shouldn't sit Randy Moss.....however, be certain that Moss will likely not even get 50 yards receiving. if he doesn't' score a TD, he will be a complete bust this week.
49er WRs vs. Packers - The Pack's got corners.....nuff said.....
Tight Ends
Start
Kellen Winslow vs. Saints - The Saints will force the Bucs to throw.....and with Josh Freeman in the fold, this is a great thing for Winslow. We told you to start him last week.....do it again this week.
John Carlson vs. Vikings - The Vikings allow more fantasy points to tight ends than any other team in the league. Do it!!!!!
Sit
Zach Miller vs. Bengals - Miller's athleticism gives him great upside, but he won't be able to overcome crappy QB play AND the suddenly stellar Bengal D. Not even worth a shot in deep leagues this week.
Jason Witten vs. Redskins - We've had enough.....bench him if you have another tight end in the top 10.

Scout Widget: Sit-Start Week 10

Time to make that playoff run. Here comes the knowledge that will help get you into the post-season. Remember, obvious items are not included.
Quarterbacks
Start
Mark Sanchez vs. Jaguars - Coming off of a bye, the Rookie gets a Jags defense that is very susceptible to the pass. He is a good bye week/injury start this week.
Joe Flacco vs. Browns - Whether he is throwing to the outside, or tossing the ball 2 yards to Ray Rice so he can run 50, Flacco will be a point scoring machine against the sorry Browns.
Donovan McNabb vs. Chargers - Donovan hasn't had a great season, but he will be able to put up monster points in a shootout with Phillip Rivers...who will also score very well.
Kurt Warner vs. Seahawks - The Cardinal passing offense is all but back. Warner is now a must start...especially against the Seahawks.
Matt Cassel vs. Raiders - He has a great opportunity to score 20+ fantasy points in consecutive weeks...but only because he gets the Raiders this week. A great injury fill-in this week.
Sit
Brett Farve vs. Lions - Farve is nursing a groin injury, so look for the Vikings to run early and often, limiting Farve's blowup potential. He will post decent numbers, but you should use a QB with a better matchup if you can.
Running Backs
Start
Ronnie Brown vs. Bucs - After a few below average weeks, Ronnie Brown will be back to his old self...getting into the end zone.
Michael Turner vs. Panthers - Both teams will try to run the ball, so Turner will get plenty of chances to get over 100 yards and get in the end zone. Check and check.
Pierre Thomas vs. Rams - In a game where the Saints won't NEED to score a bunch of points, they will simply turn to their platoon of backs to get the job done. Thomas is by far the better back, and could have a monster day on just 20 touches.
Frank Gore vs. Bears - He gets hurt a lot, but when he's not, he's a must start. Just don't get hurt Frank.
Sit
Seahawks RBs vs. Cardinals - The Seahawks continue to air it out....even if Hasslebeck was playing in a wheelchair.
Kevin Smith vs. Vikings - Smith is usually a reliable three-down back, but he's dinged up....and the Vikings don't play nice.......
Wide Receivers
Start
Chris Chambers vs. Raiders - If you are weak at WR, you could do worse than a guy who proved last week that he can still play. After a week to digest the playbook, Chambers could become the number one target.
Donald Driver vs. Cowboys - Driver continues to benefit from the Packers inability to provide enough pass protection for Rodgers to hookup with Greg Jennings. Instead, Driver will get the short to intermediate throws.
Derrick Mason vs. Browns - Mason has been nothing but solid this year, but this week he could be huge.
Sit
Roddy White vs. Panthers - White could be decent this week, but the Falcons on the run this week, so White's numbers will be limited.
Mike Sims-Walker vs. Jets - Sims-Walker is having a great season, but no team has allowed less fantasy points to receivers than the Jets.
Redskins WRs vs. Broncos - With Portis all but out and Betts with a bum ankle, the Skins will not be able to run at all, allowing the Bronco defense to focus on the receivers. This game will be ugly for the Skins passing game.
Tight Ends
Start
Kellen Winslow vs. Dolphins - Rookie Josh Freeman looked good for a rookie last week, but he will continue to look for every rookie QBs security blanket....his tight end.
John Carlson vs. Cardinals - The Seahawks will pass a bunch to keep up with the Cards, and last week they showed they won't keep Carlson in all day to pass protect. He could post a very solid stat line.
Sit
Ben Watson vs. Colts - Every once and a while Watson does good things for fantasy owners.....but he won't do it against a defense that only allows two fantasy points a week to opposing tight ends.
Fred Davis vs. Broncos - See above....the Broncos only allow three points a week to tight ends.....not a good week for Cooley's replacement.

Scout Widget: Week 9 Sit-Start

Starting Tom Brady is a no-brainer, so here are some not-so-obvious picks in the Week 9 Sit-Start: Quarterbacks

Start

Carson Palmer vs. Ravens - The Ravens had two weeks to prepare for Kyle Orton's noodle arm last week and dominated. Two problems for the Ravens D this week: 1. They only have one week to prepare. 2. They play against Carson Palmer this week. Look for Palmer to exploit a pass defense that has been shredded a few times this year.

Matt Cassel vs. Jags - Cassel is worth a bye week start against a team that allows the third most fantasy points to QBs.

Aaron Rodgers vs. Bucs - Unless his injured foot and/or toe falls off, look for Rodgers to have a great day against the winless Bucs

Matt Hasselbeck vs. Lions - The Seahawks are bad, but not that bad. The lack of a running game should allow the back-injury wonder to have a very respectable fantasy day.

Phillip Rivers vs. Giants - The Giants defense has gone from bad to worse the last few weeks, and Rivers will continue to pose problems for Coughlin's crew. Too many weapons to account for will allow Rivers to score at will.

Sit

Chad Henne vs. Pats - If the Dolphins get behind early, the Pats will tee off on Henne early and often. Think about Henne's performance in the Jets game last week...except this could be worse.

Jake Delhomme vs. Redskins - Even if the only reason you are starting him is bye weeks....you're still in trouble....

Running Backs

Start

Jacobs/Bradshaw vs. Chargers - The Chargers allow the fifth most fantasy points to running backs....and Eli Manning has been the mayor of Sucksville the last few weeks. If Manning throws the ball more than 20 times, the entire Giants coaching staff should be slapped.....HARD. Jacobs and Bradshaw should be worked this week...and will produce.

Jamaal Charles vs. Jags - Charles is worth a bye week start against a leaky Jags defense. He won't be great, but he could get decent yardage and maybe a TD, which should make you a happy camper. If you are forced to start him in one of your leagues, be sure to thank LJ for being such a moron.

Pierre Thomas vs. Panthers - If you think the Panthers' D is back after last week, the Saints should change your mind. Thomas is by far the best back on the team, and should be able to post 100 all purpose yards and a TD in the 15-20 touches he will get.

Sit

Moreno/Buckhalter vs. Steelers - The Steelers allow less fantasy points to running backs than any other team in the league, and with these two splitting carries, you don't want any part of this.

Michael Turner vs. Redskins - Turner will have issue getting yards against the Skins, so temper expectations this week. Double-digit points should make you feel lucky if you have to start him.

Wide Receivers

Start

Moss/Welker vs. Dolphins - Yes...I know you should start them regardless, but it is worth noting how big a game both could have since the Fins are starting two rookie corners.

Donald Driver/Greg Jennings vs. Bucs - The Bucs are so awful, I can see both of these guys go for 100 and a TD. Start'em both if you got'em.

Nate Burleson vs. Seahawks - The Lions give up lots of fantasy points to WRs, so look for the Seahawks deep threat to get loose for a few big ones.

DeSean Jackson vs. Cowboys - Jackson will continue to elude defenders in Sunday's game vs. the Boys. Expect another TD from the second-year wonder.

Vincent Jackson vs. Giants - V-Jack is a number 1 WR and should be started regardless of the matchup. Just a reminder...but this game could leave Jackson owners smiling for days on end.

Sit

Ward/Holmes vs. Broncos - The Steelers will pass a lot, but the Broncos will limit opportunities for big gains. The big key is who Champ Bailey covers. If he moves around, you really don't know who will be shutdown. If you can, stay away from both Steeler WRs.

Giant WRs vs. Chargers - With the Giants' passing woes and the Chargers weak run defense, the smart move for the Giants will be to run early and often. Expect limited looks for the Giant WRs.

Tight Ends
Start
Jason Witten vs. Eagles - The Eagles allow more fantasy points to TEs than any other team in the league. The Witten train will start here...and if it doesn't...it just won't start this season.
Fred Davis vs. Falcons - Davis will get his first start this week, and should produce a decent stat line against a team that is in the top five in most fantasy points allowed to TEs.
Sit
Heath Miller vs. Broncos - The Broncos D is solid and doesn't get beat by tight ends. Not a good choice for a bye week replacement this week.

Scout Widget: Week 8 Sit-Start

It's about midway through the fantasy football regular season, and we understand you need all the help you can get. Here is the Week 8 Sit-Start:
Quarterbacks
Start
Jay Cutler vs. Browns - Jay Cutler is a proud guy. The beating they took from the Bengals last week will prompt them to throw all over the Browns this week.
Kyle Orton vs. Ravens - Kyle Orton can manage the game and be a decent fantasy starter...when given the opportunity. The Ravens secondary has been shaky this year, which should allow Orton to find Brandon Marshall for a few big plays and a couple of TDs (or more...).
David Garrard vs. Titans - The Titans give up an average of 26 fantasy points per contest to opposing QBs....and that's in leagues that give 4 points for a passing TD. Garrard makes a great bye week/injury fill-in because of it.
Matt Stafford vs. Rams - If Stafford and Johnson both start, bot could have huge games against a Rams team that can't beat a fish in a foot race.
Sit
Joe Flacco vs. Broncos - The Broncos play solid defense and have only allowed an average of 6 fantasy points per game to QBs. Temper expectations for Flacco in this one.
Alex Smith vs. Colts - Don't even think about it. Only one team has allowed less fantasy points to QBs. The Colts will force the 49ers to chase them on the scoreboard, but Smith won't be lighting it up.
Running Backs
Start
Matt Forte vs. Browns - Some of you are wondering why you picked Matt Forte in the first round of your fantasy drafts. This game is why. Forte could move into the top 10 fantasy running backs after this performance.
Kevin Smith vs. Rams - With Calvin and Matt possibly coming back, the Rams will be hard pressed to stop them all. Smith should have a great day rushing and receiving.
Tomlinson/Sproles vs. Raiders - Tomlinson is the more conventional start, but Sproles has shown that he can carve up bad defenses with minimal touches. Tomlinson makes a great #2 RB while Sproles is an excellent flex play against Al Davis' boys.
Sit
Frank Gore vs. Colts - Gore doesn't seem to be totally recovered from his previous injury. Even if he is 100%, the Colts will still force Smith to throw early and often if they jump out to a big lead early.
Williams/Stewart vs. Cardinals - Bad start for both backs, though Williams is a must start, regardless of the matchup. The Cards are first in run defense and only five defenses allow less fantasy points to running backs. Look for better options if you got'em

Scout Widget: Week 6 Sit-Start

Everyone knows that you should start MJD against the Rams this week, so here are some not-so-obvious ideas in my Week 6 Sit-Start:
Quarterbacks
Start
Matt Hasselbeck vs. Cardinals - He's back and healthy (Who caught that joke?). Hasselbeck proved last week he can still be an elite fantasy QB when healthy...that won't change this week when he faces the worst pass defense in the league.
Carson Palmer vs. Texans - The Texans love shoot-outs, which is why you start Carson this week. The Texans will try to get ahead through the air, and while Ced-Ben will get his carries, it will be up to Palmer to win the game through the air.
Brett Farve vs. Ravens - The Ravens were embarrassed last week on the ground by the afore mentioned Cedric Benson, so they will be geared up to stop Adrian Peterson. That will open up the door for old man Farve to exploit a Ravens defense that has been porous, at best.
Jason Campbell vs. Chiefs - Campbell is a very sneaky start against a team that allows an average of 19 fantasy points per game to opposing fantasy QBs. Campbell has been good against really bad defenses, so he is worth a look if your starting QB has a bye or really bad match up this week.
Sit
Joe Flacco vs. Vikings - Flacco will be harassed all day by the Vikings pass rush, which will be helped by the fact the Ravens will be starting rookie O-Lineman Michael Oher. Don't expect many yards from Flacco this week.
Matt Cassel vs. Redskins - Cassel has been a decent backup fantasy QB so far, but this is not the week to squeeze a start out of him. The Skins suck at everything....everything except pass defense, that is. Look elsewhere for a bye week fill-in.
Running Backs
Start
Cedric Benson vs. Texans - After last week's 100 yard performance against the Ravens, I am drinking the Benson kool-aid. And this just in: The Texans aren't quite as good at stopping the run as the Ravens are.....
Ryan Grant vs. Lions - Yes...because everyone plays well against the Lions. This could be an ugly blowout of a game that will see Grant go for at LEAST 100 yards and a TD.
Knowshon Moreno vs. Chargers - After a very solid performance last week against the Pats, Moreno looks to be the unquestioned starter in Denver (as long as he keeps his fumbling under control). Moreno will get to feast on the Chargers this week, who give up more fantasy points than any other team to running backs (28 per game).
Thomas Jones vs. Bills - If Jamal Lewis can run for a hundred yards against the Bills, so can Tom Jones. Oh...and it wouldn't be unusual for Leon Washington to put up respectable fantasy numbers this week, as well.
Sit
Larry Johnson vs. Redskins - Johnson has been horrible anyways, and won't be able to run through Haynesworth and the Skins, either. Jamal Charles will steal some carries as well, making Johnson not a startable option.
Ray Rice vs. Vikings - He may be getting the majority of the touches now, but that doesn't mean you get the big stats. This will definitely be a "famine" week against the stout Vikings D.
Wide Receivers
Start
Chad OchoCinco vs. Texans - Ocho has had a solid season so far and will get a chance to put up big numbers in what should be a shootout against the "don't play defense" Texans.
Donald Driver vs. Lions - Greg Jennings has not been getting the ball as much as everyone thought, which opened the door for Donald Driver to be a starting fantasy WR. That will continue this week against the Lions.
Santana Moss vs. Chiefs - With the Redskins O-line beat up, Jim Zorn will continue to keep TE Chris Cooley into block, meaning Moss will get most of the targets this week. In case you don't know how bad the Chiefs are at defending the pass, check out what Miles Austin did last week in his first start of his career.
Burleson/Housh vs. Cardinals - The Cardinals are #1 in run defense and #32 in pass defense. How should the Seahawks game plan?
Sit
Vincent Jackson vs. Broncos - V-Jack has had a great start to the season, but the rejuvenated Broncos D will cause him some issues. Champ Bailey is bad enough, but the entire Bronco defense is only giving up an average of 10 fantasy points to WRs per game. There may not be a lot of points to go around in this one, so sit Jackson if you have better options.
Bills WRs vs. Jets - The Bills can't pass and the Jets have something to prove after last week's beating at the hands of the Dolphins. Owens and Evans won't produce much Sunday against a motivated Jet squad.
Tight Ends
Start
John Carlson vs. Cardinals - See above about Burleson and Housh. The Seahawks will throw and Carlson will benefit.....he may even get 100 yards and a TD.
Brent Celek vs. Raiders - This guy has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy owners who own him this year. He gets a lot of targets for a TE and already has 2 100 yard games this season. Playing the Raiders doesn't hurt, either.
Sit
Chris Cooley vs. Chiefs - The Skins will have to use Cooley as a blocker more Sunday to offset the loss of Chris Samuels on the O-line. Cooley won't have his normal chances to stretch the field and get some deep receptions.
Antonio Gates vs. Chargers - SIT WHO?!?!?!?!?!? The Broncos allow only 3 fantasy points on average to TEs per week. Sitting Gates may not be an option for most teams, but don't expect big numbers from him this week.

Scout Widget: Week 5 Sit-Start

Yes, you should start Peyton Manning against the Titans, who rank dead last against the pass. Now, if you'd like to see some ideas that Captain Obvious DIDN'T come up with, please proceed to the meaty portion of the Week 5 Sit-Start:
Quarterbacks
Start
Ben Rothlisberger vs. Lions - Big Ben gets to play the 25th ranked pass D this week. Mendenhall will get his...but the Lions just won't be able to bring Big Ben down quick enough.
Tony Romo vs. Chiefs - The boy wonder is catching some flack after a loss to the Broncos....and Wide Wade knows it. The Cowboys need to gain some offensive confidence, and will attack the Chiefs with reckless abandon. Look for Romo to have his best game of the season so far.
Brett Farve vs. Rams - Farve looked REEEEALLLYYY comfortable against the Pack last week. While the Vikes won't need to air it out this week, Farve will still put up good numbers for a starting fantasy QB.
Sit
Eli Manning vs. Raiders - This is me being paranoid. The Giants should be able to rest Eli's foot and just run over the Raiders with the Jacobs/Bradshaw combo. Sure...Eli could put up big numbers throwing against the Raiders, but if you are the Giants, why risk it?
Jason Campbell vs. Panthers - The days of getting away with starting Campbell against crappy defenses are over. After a dismal performance against the Bucs last week, Campbell will matchup against the sixth best passing defense. i f the Skins want to win, they will pound the ground with Portis and NOT let Campbell try to win the game.
Running Backs
Start
Rashard Mendenhall vs. Lions - Yes. Parker looks to be out. Yes.
Jerome Harrison vs. Bills - The hot waiver wire pickup this week will produce huge numbers while Jamal Lewis is limited. The Bills have the 26th ranked run defense and will provide little resistance to the dynamic back.
Fred Jackson vs. Browns - This just in: The Browns are bad....REALLY BAD. Only the Panthers have allowed more rushing yards this season. Smells like a big game for Fred Jackson, even if he splits carries with Lynch, who could also be in line for a big game if he gets enough carries.
Sit
Steven Jackson vs. Vikings - It's hard to sit a guy you drafted so high, but you want to play a better matchup this week if you can. This won't end well for Jackson owners.
Cedric Benson vs. Ravens - Benson has looked good so far this year, but the Ravens run D is no joke. Numero Uno against the run. The Bengals will look for Palmer to exploit the Ravens through the air and not with Benson on the ground.
Kevin Smith vs. Steelers - He's banged up and facing a great Steelers run defense. A garbage time TD is the best you can hope for if you start him.
Wide Receivers
Start
Pierre Garcon vs. Titans - Looks like another week of Manning getting better acquainted with the speedster. Garcon will get targeted deep all day, and will likely convert quite a few catches.
Roy Williams vs. Chiefs - Roy will be the beneficiary of a bad K.C. unit. Williams will be able to beat the defense constantly in this game.
Terrell Owens vs. Browns - The Bills will finally get the ball to T.O. I mean, it's the Browns.....if he doesn't get the ball in this game, he won't get the ball at all.
Sidney Rice vs. Rams - Rice is developing a continuity with old man Farve. When Farve throws, his favorite seems to be Rice. Seems like a formula for success against a possible challenger to the Lions 0-16 season.
Sit
Giants WRs vs. Raiders - The Giants will try to limit Manning's passes due to his injury, so don't expect the Giants to go crazy through the air. Also, it's hard to tell if the Raiders will move Nnamdi Asomugha to Manningham, Smith, or keep him on the right side of the field. They could post great numbers, but be careful and pick a better matchup to exploit, if you can.
Antonio Bryant vs. Eagles - He's still not quite one hundred percent from the knee surgery, he has Josh Johnson throwing to him, and he's going up against the Eagles. Another long day for the Bucs and Antonio Bryant
Tight Ends
Start
John Carlson vs. Jags - Carlson will get a lot of looks against a Jags defense that can be exploited through the air, regardless of whether Hasselbeck or Wallace is playing behind center this weekend.
Vernon Davis vs. Falcons - I can't believe I'm doing this. He's had two decent fantasy weeks....*sigh*.....so he could be for real this time. Start him and hope his good luck continues.
Sit
Chris Cooley vs. Panthers - The Redskins will focus on the run against the Panthers, so expect a mediocre stat line at best from Cooley this week.
Tony Gonzales vs. 49ers - You should almost never sit Tony G., but if you have another top 10 TE and a better matchup, use that one instead. The Niners have been impressive on defense this season and should be able to at least limit Tony's touches

Scout Widget: Sit-Start Week 3

You won't see instructions to start Drew Brees here.....instead you will get bold predictions that will help lead you to victory in your fantasy league.
Quarterbacks
Start
Trent Edwards vs. Saints - This is the second game in a row I have Edwards in the start section. Edwards threw for 230 and 2 TDs against the Bucs last week...imagine what he can do if he has to try and keep up with the Brees Machine. He should put up big numbers, even though the Bills will likely lose.
Kevin Kolb vs. Chiefs - A sneaky start this week, if you have injury issues (more specifically McNabb issues). With Brian Westbrook in his normal "questionable mode" for Sunday's game, Kolb may be forced to pass more than the Eagles would like. While Kolb will make mistakes, he proved he could put up big numbers last week against the Saints (391 yds, 2 TDs), so be confident he can put up at least 250 and a couple of TDs against the Chiefs.
Matt Schaub vs. Jags - Look for another big week against the 26th ranked pass defense. Maybe not 4 TD passes big, but 3 is very reasonable.
Sit
Tony Romo vs. Panthers - The Panthers have had issues stopping the run, so look for the Boys to attack on the ground, regardless of whether Barber plays or not. Romo's job will be to handoff to these guys and watch them score, not air it out (and throw picks, like last week).
Matt Cassel vs. Eagles - The Eagles D is angry after being embarrassed last week against the Saints.....Cassel will suffer.
Running Backs
Start
Matt Forte vs. Seahawks - While Forte is normally a no-brainer start, he is on the start list this week because he WILL get of the schnide and take care of business against the Seahawks. Forte could be the top fantasy scorer of the week against the 26th ranked run defense that has some key injuries on that side of the ball.
Clinton Portis vs. Lions - I'm not convinced the Skins will beat the Lions, but even with a suspect O-line, Portis will be solid (at least) against the Lions defense. Expect a solid 100 yards and a TD.....if not more.
Ryan Grant vs. Rams - The whole Packers team will get a pick-me-up against a weak St. Louis defense (25th in rushing). The Packers will get a lot of goal line looks, with Grant being the beneficiary.
Brandon Jacobs vs. Bucs - After two weeks of struggling to run the ball. the Giants will push Jacobs to get back on track against the Bucs. Instead of letting Manning throw to his new-found toy receivers, the Giants will boost Jacobs confidence by allowing him to ransack the 27th ranked run defense. Jacobs owners: Your patience will pay off this week.
Sit
Pats RBs vs. Falcons - Get over it, Fred Taylor is not the old Corey Dillon. The Pats will continue to use all running backs to keep them fresh for the entire season.
Kevin Smith vs. Redskins - The Skins shutdown Steven Jackson, minus one breakaway run, so don't expect anything better from Smith.
Wide Receivers
Start
DeSean Jackson vs. Chiefs - Kolb hooked up with Jackson for a TD in Kolb's first start...he will do it again against the hapless Chiefs.
Greg Jennings vs. Rams - No catches last week for Jennings? Jennings will come back with a vengeance and torch the Rams' secondary, making up for last week's no show...as long as the Green Bay O-line can keep Rodgers upright.
Lee Evans vs. Saints - The Bills will have to sling the rock to keep up with the Saints, so Edwards will have plenty of chances to hook-up deep with Evans......and he will.
Braylon Edwards vs. Ravens - Brodie Croyle threw for 177 yds and 2 TDs during week 1 against the Ravens, so you can throw against them. The Ravens rank 28th against the pass, so Braylon should be a decent start at least.
Sit
Antonio Bryant vs. Giants - Even if Bryant can play, the Giants only allowed 314 yard passing in their first two games combined, so his outlook isn't good. The Bucs will try to control the ball on the ground and won't throw much to any of their receivers.
Dwayne Bowe vs. Eagles - Same deal as last week.....Bowe will struggled to get yardage and will get a late TD at best. If you have better options, go for it this week.
Tight Ends
Start
Brent Celek vs. Chiefs - Celek will get a chance to post huge numbers, especially if the young starter Kolb relies on his TE, like most young QBs do.
Dustin Keller vs. Titans - The Titans have had major issues stopping the pass the first two weeks of the season. Look for rookie Mark Sanchez to hook up with Keller frequently against a Titans defense who ranks dead last in passing defense.
Sit
Heap vs. Browns - Heap only had one catch for nine yards last week, which just happened to be for a TD. The Browns are actually ranked in the top ten in pass defense, so Hap could see a similar stat line, sans TD.
Kellen Winslow vs. Giants - The Giants defense limited Romo's man crush Jason Witten to only 33 yards last week....they shouldn't have much of a problem doing the same to the soldier.

Scout Widget: Sit-Start Week 2

You won't see instructions to start Drew Brees here.....instead you will get bold predictions that will help lead you to victory in your fantasy league.
Quarterbacks
Start
Trent Edwards vs. Bucs - Edwards played respectfully on the road against Brady and the Pats, and basically had them beat late in the game. Expect even better numbers against a young Bucs defense on his home field.
Jason Campbell vs. Rams - Campbell actually had decent numbers against a tough Giant defense, going 19 of 26 for 211 yards, a TD, and a pick. Campbell's numbers (and play) should be much better at home against a Rams team that was letting John Carlson burn them down the middle of the field.
Matt Ryan vs. Panthers - The Dolphins strong defense posed no matched for the second year QB out of Boston College. The Panthers have lost some key defensive players to injury already, so expect Ryan to put up numbers similar to McNabb's this week.
Sit
Matt Schaub vs. Titans - If the Texans thought they had it rough against the Jets, wait until they see who is in store for them this week. Another below average week for Matt is on the horizon.
Jay Cutler vs. Steelers - Jay will continue to learn humility this week against the Steelers. Expect another pick show.
Running Backs
Start
Darren McFadden vs. Chiefs - This just in: The Raiders have a running game. Look for the entire Raiders backfield to have an even better game than they did on Monday night against the Chargers, with McFadden being the main beneficiary.
Fred Jackson vs. Bucs - The Patriots couldn't hold Jackson down, as he compiled 140 total yards and a TD. The Bucs will have trouble with him as well...expect another day of solid runs and plenty of catches out of the backfield.
Correll Buckhalter vs. Browns - I don't care how good Adrian Perterson is...he shouldn't be stiff arming two guys in a row. The Browns run defense and tackling is bad. Buckhalter may not get all of the carries, but he will get to abuse the Browns enough to put up a solid stat line.
Sit
Matt Forte vs. Steelers - We know he was your first pick, but don't expect much this week. The Bears offense is out of sync and it may take another week or two to right the ship.
Steven Jackson vs. Redskins - The Skins shutdown big man Brandon Jacobs and the Giants potent running attack last week, while Jackson really sucked an egg playing against the Seahawks. Looks like Jackson can expect attention once again from all 11 defensive players.....I mean, who else is there to be concerned about?
Kevin Smith vs. Vikings - Smith had issues with the front seven of the Saints....I'm going to say the front seven of the Vikes is juuuuuuust a bit tougher. Smith may sneak a TD, but his yardage totals won't add up to much.
Wide Receivers
Start
DeSean Jackson vs. Saints - The Eagles will need to pass a lot to keep up with Brees and the Saints, and Jackson will catch most of those passes.
Donald Driver vs. Bengals - The savvy vet will have a great game playing against the Bengals' number two corner...a much easier task than what he faced against the Bears last week.
Nate Burleson vs. 49ers - Burleson looks great after last year's knee injury....he will be Hasselbeck's deep target throughout the season....expect a deep touchdown and high yardage totals against the 49ers.
Bernard Berrian vs. Lions - Berrian is no longer on the injury report and has declared his hamstring healthy. Monitor him this week, but if he doesn't have a setback, he is a great start against the Lions.
Sit
Andre Johnson vs. Titans - You should NEVER sit Andre Johnson, but this is just a warning...Johnson and Schaub will struggle again to connect against a tough Titan defense.
Dwayne Bowe vs. Raiders - Bowe's yardage numbers will be low, but he may be able to sneak away with a short TD catch. Don't expect anything other than that from a guy who will be covered by Nnamdi Asomugha, limited Vincent Jackson last week to only one catch while he was in coverage.
Tight Ends
Start
Todd Heap vs. Chargers - Like Zach Miller, Heap will be able to find empty spots in the zone. Flacco will connect with Heap for what could be a big game for Heap.
Dustin Keller vs. Pats - The Pats will try to confuse Mark Sanchez with blitzes, which will cause him to look to his hot read. As of right now, Keller is his eternal hot read.
Sit
Ben Watson vs. Jets - Watson had a huge stat line against the Bills. However, because Bill Belichick hates fantasy football owners, he will get only 1 catch for 8 yards against the Jets
Greg Olsen vs. Steelers - Expect another week of Olsen and Cutler struggling to connect against yet another great defense.

Scout Widget: Sit-Start Week 1

The season is finally here. Everyone knows they should start Adrian Peterson, but here we try to help fellow fantasy owners by advising them to start or sit players who are a bit less obvious. Sit back, relax, and enjoy then knowledge dump.....
Quarterbacks
Start
Kurt Warner vs. 49ers - People are worried about Kurt Warner's bad preseason performances. Good thing it's the preseason. Warner gets to face the 49ers, and in case you haven't noticed, the improved 49ers are still bad.
Matt Hasselbeck vs. Rams - The Seahawks have Housh, Burleson, and Branch (in the slot...where he should be) and no running game. The only thing that will be able to stop Hasselbeck is his back, and I don't think the Rams pass rush will even touch him during the game. Matt is going to have a great one.
Joe Flacco vs. Chiefs - Anyone looks good against the Chiefs. Plus, this will be a great opportunity for the Ravens to build Flacco's confidence, so they will let him throw enough to put up a good stat line.
Shaun Hill vs. Cardinals - If Warner will be chuckin' TDs, the Niners will have to try to match him. Hill will do a good enough job to start for your fantasy team if you don't have better options.
Sit
Ben Rothlisberger vs. Titans - Some think Big Ben could be a surprise fantasy starter this year. This is just to confirm, especially this week, that those people are stupid.
Eli Manning vs. Redskins - He has no real #1 receiver and the Redskins defense is actually halfway decent. Unless you get points for handing off to Brandon Jacobs, let him sit your bench.
Running Backs
Start
Reggie Bush vs. Lions - Pierre Thomas looks doubtful to play, and even if he does, won't be used nearly as often due to his sprained MCL. This opens the door to Bush, who will have to carry more than usual, as well as get his normal load of receptions, against a Lions defense who is.....the Lions defense.
Kevin Smith vs. Saints - With rookie Matt Stafford starting at QB, look for the Lions to try to limit his throws by giving it to Mr. Smith. He will also get a few receptions out of the backfield, and is always a threat to break the big play against the less than adequate Saints D, especially if the Saints start blowing them out and ease up a bit.
Ray Rice vs. Chiefs - This is the perfect game to use the first time starter. Whether Rice gets the goal line carries or not, he will get plenty of carries and receptions against a very weak opponent.
Sit
Pierre Thomas vs. Lions - Thomas owners are tearing their collective hair out screaming, "Why NOW!!!!". If Pierre didn't have his MCL injury, he could have been the top scorer of the week. But alas.....Pierre Thomas owners will just have to suck it up and deal with the disappointment.
All Bucs RBs vs. Cowboys - Even if you knew the Buce would have a great game rushing the football, how would you know which back would get the carries? Now that the Caddy is back at the top of the depth chart, it is any one's guess who will be Raheem Morris' Back du jour. Stay away from this situation until Raheem starts leaning on one back or the other.
Chris Johnson vs. Steelers - OK...I'm reaching a bit here. The Titans haven't looked that great running the ball during the preseason, so if you have a better option (meaning you play in a really shallow league....or with a bunch of dummies), go for it. Otherwise start him.....just don't expect monster stats.
Wide Receivers
Start
Chad Ochocinco vs. Broncos - Call it a hunch, but Chad will have a huge game against a sketchy at best Broncos defense. Then you can tweet your opponent about how Chad is helping you kick their butt.
T.J. Who's Your Mama vs. Rams - CHAMPIONSHIP!!!! OK....not quite yet, but the Housh will certainly contribute to your first victory of the season as Matt Hasslebeck gets back on track after last year's train wreck.
Josh Morgan vs. Cardinals - If you are desperate at WR, Morgan could surprise against the Cards since the Cards could be up big if they come out of the gate hot. That means garbage time TDs for the 49ers, and likely Josh Morgan.
Sit
Vincent Jackson vs. Raiders - Jackson, who would normally be a fantasy starter, draws Nnamdi Asomugha in coverage this week. Jackson may be the only Charger you DON'T want to start in this one.
All Giants WRs vs. Redskins - The Skins may not be great on the offensive side of the ball, but they can play some defense. Combine that with the lack of talent at wideout for the Giants and you get ALOT of handoffs to Brandon Jacobs.
Dwayne Bowe vs. Ravens - Cassel's hurt. Tony G. is gone. All of the Ravens attention will be focused on stopping Dwayne Bowe. Not good.
Tight Ends
Start
Brandon Pettigrew vs. Saints - Pettigrew will get the start and Stafford will have to look to his security blanket when Megatron gets covered. My bet is that security blanket will be Pettigrew.....at least against the Saints D.
John Carlson vs. Rams - Hasslebeck will pass for a crazy mount of yards against the Rams....Carlson will get in on the action.
Sit
Tony Gonzales vs. Dolphins - Gonzales may not be a bust this week, but expect less than his stellar stat line.
Brent Celek vs. Panthers - While Celek may be a popular sleeper among fantasy owners this year, the Panthers defense should have no problem limiting his catches.

Scout Widget - WR Sit-Start Week 16

Start Fitzgerald/Boldin vs. Pats - With the secondary injuries/problems the Patriots have, both Cardinal receivers make excellent starts...even on the road. 100 yards and 1 TD for each. Colston/Johnson vs. each other - When the Saints battle the Lions, both Marques Colston and Calvin Johnson will put up great numbers through the air. Lance Moore is also worth a start as a #2 WR. 100 yards and 1 TD for each...Moore could top 100 yards. Sit Bernard Berrian vs. Falcons - Tavarius Jackson's 4 TDs last week was not the norm...don't expect anything big from Berrian either this week. Dwayne Bowe vs. Dolphins - The weather forecast for Sunday is 16 degrees and windy.....not optimal conditions for wide receiver fantasy points. Kevin Walter vs. Raiders - While Andre Johnson is a must-start, Walter is not the #2 fantasy receiver he would normally be in this matchup. Sit him if you have a better matchup.

Scout Widget - RB Sit-Start Week 16

Running backs are the lifeblood of most fantasy teams. The Sit-Start is here to make sure your Championship dreams don't die..... Start Kevin Smith vs. Saints - Smith is finally coming into his own as an NFL running back. The touches are finally coming consistently, and this week, so will the touchdowns. 120 total yards and 1 TD. Frank Gore vs. Rams - Gore has been consistent this year, but this week he finally gets a chance to breakout. 130 total yards and 2 TDs. Steve Slaton vs. Raiders - Slaton + Raiders run defense = Championship for you. 150 total yards and 2 TDs. Sit DeAngelo Williams vs. Giants - This may be hard to do, but this is the right call if you have another decent option. The Giants run defense will not allow Williams to duplicate his previous weeks' effort. Clinton Portis vs. Eagles - Portis is banged up, the Skins O-Line is missing two starters, and the Eagles are on a roll. Not a good week to be Portis. Seahawk backs vs. Jets - No matter who it is, they won't get far this week.

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 16

After a long (and unintentional, I might add) break from the Sit-Start, I'm ready to help you win your fantasy football championship games: Start Matt Ryan vs. Vikings - With half of the Williams duo out for the Vikings' D-Line, Minnesota may need a bit more help from their safeties to stop Michael Turner. This will result in formations that Minnesota is not used to playing, allowing Ryan to hit at least one big play. Expect solid numbers from the surprising rookie. 250 yards and 2 TDs. Matt Cassel vs. Cards - Even counting the Steelers debacle, Cassel has blown away the QB competition over the past six weeks as the number one scorer in all formats. This will continue this week at home against a Cardinal defense that is...uh....less than stout. 250 yards, 2TDs, 30 yards rushing. Donovan McNabb vs. Redskins - A little risky on the road, but McNabb has played well after being benched earlier in the year by Andy Reid. Look for McNabb to screen to Westbrook all day and post solid numbers and be a great injury fill-in. 225 yards and 2 TDs. Shaun Hill vs. Rams - DO IT!!! Hill plays well against bad defenses, and it doesn't get any worse than the Rams. 250 yards and 2 TDs Sit Rothlisberger/Collins vs. each other - This game may end 6-3. Don't do it. Tony Romo vs. Ravens - Romo is a great fantasy QB, but if you have another good option, we say avoid him this week. The Ravens defense gets better every week and T-Suggs may plant an already dinged Romo in the ground a few times.

Scout Widget - WR Sit-Start Week 12

Start Kevin Walter vs. Browns - Kevin Walter has quietly become a solid #2 WR option in fantasy football, and that should continue this week. The Browns have been sketchy defending the pass, so Walter should continue benefiting from Andre Johnson's double-teams. Terrell Owens vs. 49ers - After the disappointing Brad Johnson era, it is time for TO to shine once again. The 49ers defense has been porous, and should give the Romo-Owens connection a rebirth this week. Donnie Avery vs. Bears - Mr. Avery seems to be continuing his top play and should be activated against the Bears this week. Even if the Rams fall behind early, Avery will get plenty of garbage yards. Expect Torry Holt's fall from grace to continue. Sit Chargers WRs vs. Colts - With the Colts run defense, the pass defense good, and the Chargers spreading the ball around, now is not a good time to start any Charger WRs. Seahawks WRs vs. Redskins - A rainy day against an improving defense equals an non-productive day for Branch and Engram. Hasselbeck is not ready to get the passing offense on track quite yet. Wait one more week before activating any Hawk WRs. Jets WRs vs. Titans - The Titan defense will keep the Jets in check this week, but Dustin Keller will continue to take looks away from Cotchery and Coles, so sit them if you can this week. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - RB Sit-Start Week 12

Start Warrick Dunn vs. Lions - With Earnest Graham on IR with an ankle injury, the table is set for Dunn against one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. The Caddy may get some carries, but Dunn will be the main beneficiary in this one. Marshawn Lynch vs. Chiefs - For those Lynch owners who sat him last week after tiring of seeing 70 yard performances....here is another chance to get back on the gravy train. The Chiefs allow RBs to score more fantasy points than any other team. With the Bills passing woes, Lynch will be a workhorse STUD this week against Herm's boys. Peyton Hillis vs. Raiders - The default RB for the Broncos should find room to run. The Raiders have played well vs. the pass in last few weeks, so Hillis will have the opportunity for yards and to get a short yardage TD run. Sit Tim Hightower vs. Giants - The flavor of the month will be rancid against the top ranked fantasy run defense. Don't do it. Chris Johnson/Lendale White vs. Jets - The Jets have been solid vs. the run this year, and will employ the same game plan the last teams have employed, though unsuccessfully, against the Titans. Look for Collins to get the glory, while the Titan RBs should get the bench in your fantasy leagues. Kevin Smith vs. Bucs - Smith may be the man now in Detroit, but the Bucs will put an end to his sudden good fortune. The Lions will not be balanced enough to allow Smith his third 100 yard game in a row. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 12

Start Matt Cassel vs. Dolphins - Cassel had an absolutely huge week 11, throwing for over 400 yards and running for a few as well. Cassel gets a Dolphin team that is mediocre against the pass, but the big key is Cassel has shown the ability to pick up fantasy points on the ground. Expect a decent day through the air, but he will make it a good week because of the points he gains rushing. Brady Quinn vs. Texans - The youngin' gets to face a Texans defense that ranks 30th in fantasy points allowed to QBs. Brady is just getting more and more confident as he gets more starts, especially when he proved last week he could hit his wide receiver. Expect the Browns to stretch the field and Quinn to be a solid start this week. Eli Manning vs. Cardinals - Manning has been far from impressive this season, but this week things could change. A game in sunny Arizona will provide the perfect weather for a shootout against a suspect Cardinal pass defense, and Manning will be able to perform. The Cards will have to focus on stopping the Giants ground attack, which should open up Manning to his first big game in a while. Sit Jason Campbell vs Seahawks - Some may say this is a great week for Campbell to get back on track, but this week could possibly be a bust for the Redskin QB. Teams travelling across the country rarely do well, even against a suspect team, but this team continues to get healthier every week, so the Hawks are more dangerous than they seem. Combine that with the rainy forecast and.....well.......you could do better this week than Campbell. Brett Farve vs. Titans - Everyone knows the Titans are great at stopping the run, but did you know they have allowed the second least fantasy points to QBs? When Thomas Jones finds little room to run, Farve will be forced to force passes into tight spaces............let's just say the Titans will have plenty of Pick 6 chances. Kurt Warner vs. Giants - So you probably won't sit Warner, but you should definitely expect less this week. The Giants defense has been on lockdown, so if you have another top 10 option at QB, start them instead. Don't be surprised if Warner produces decent numbers, though. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - WR Sit-Start Week 11

Start DeSean Jackson vs. Bengals - Jackson is on pace for about 1200 total yards in his rookie season. The only thing keeping him from being a lock starter is his puny TD totals. Well, give him a go this week, my friends....he will score against the Bengals. Mark Bradley vs. Saints - Some of you are saying...who? The former second round pick of the Bears is making a big impact after recovering rom a knee injury, scoring a TD in 2 of the last 3 weeks. With Bowe and Gonzales geting the double teams, Bradley is a great start if you need help at WR Steve Breaston vs. Seahawks - Steve is receiving many touches as the number 3 in Arizona, and he could have another huge game against the Seahawks if Warner continues to look his way. Sit Bernard Berrian vs. Bucs - Berrian got zero...I repeat...zero catches last week, and the Bucs defense won't be much easier. Berrian relies on the deep ball too much to be a consistent fantasy producer. Sit if you have better options. Plaxico Burress vs. Ravens - It's time to sit Burress when the matchup is tough. Sometimes you just have to suck it up. Forget his name...just look at the stats. Braylon Edwards vs. Falcons - Between his drops and the Brady Quinn era, Braylon is now a dangerous start for the rest of the season. The Browns coaching staff won't be comfortable with a rookie QB winging it outside very often, so his looks will decrease (like last week against the Broncos) and his dropsies don't help the situation. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - RB Sit-Start Week 11

Start Ronnie Brown vs. Raiders - DeAngelo Williams looked like Superman against the Raiders last week....Ronnie Brown might even look better. Duece McCallister vs. Chiefs - The Chiefs hav a horrible run defense, and with Bush being limited at best, look for Duece to run loose.........sorry, couldn't resist. DeAngelo Williams vs. Lions - Last week against the Raiders......Part Deux. Sit Wiilis McGahee vs. Giants - To all you angry Willis owners: Sit him again...and you will smile from ear to ear. No one is running on the G-Men...no matter who starts at RB. Kevin Smith vs. Panthers - He has cemented himself as the starting RB after last week's game, but may still be feeling the effects of a groin injury sustained last week, which won't help him against the Panthers' stingy D. Ryan Grant vs. Bears - The Bears proved last week they can shutdown the run when they want....they will do it again. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 11

Start Tony Romo vs. Washington - Romo will be back, pinkie and all, against the Redskins this week. The Cowboys are a much different team with Romo in the lineup, so expect good numbers in his first game back. Chad Pennington vs. Raiders - Pennington has been steady this year, but will post evenm better numbers against a struggling Raiders team. Pennington is totally in sync with his receiving crew, so the table is set for his best day yet as a Dolphin. Tyler Thigpen vs. Saints - Thigpen has gotten good matchup after good machup. Thigpen has really connected well with WR Mark Bradley, who is benefitting from all the attention Dwyane Bowe gets. Here come Thigpen with another, at the very least, steady performance. Sit Brett Farve vs. Pats - The Pats will be able to pressure Farve into bad decisions all day, which is why the Jets will try to work Thomas Jones. Farver could be a pick machine if the Jets get down early. Eli Manning vs. Ravens - The Giants face a tough test in the Ravens defense. With Manning not playing his best ball as of late, look for Brandon Jacobs to play ball control against the opportunistic Ravens defense, with Manning only passing in limited quantities. David Garrard vs. Titans - The Titans defense is a machine. Sit him. -Scout Widget

Friday, November 7, 2008

Scout Widget - WR Sit-Start Week 10

Start Donnie Avery vs. Jets - Steven Jackson on the bench, the Rams will be forced to air it out against a less than stellar Jets pass defense. Avery will get the number two corner, which should result in some deep completions. Anquan Boldin/Larry Fitzgerald vs. 49ers - Two words: Points Explosion. Steve Smith vs. Raiders - With DeAngelo gone, the Raiders don't have anyone who can even PRETEND to cover Smith. Sit Steeler WRs vs. Colts - The Colts are ranked #1 in fantasy points allowed to WRs. Opportunities for Ward, Holmes, and Washington will be few and far between. Bernard Berrian vs. Packers - The Packers are also good at limiting WR fantasy production. Berrian's string of good fantasy games stop here, since the Vikes will be running AP at the poor Packer run defense, anyways. Reggie Wayne vs. Steelers - Reggie Wayne's fantasy slump continues against a tough Steeler pass defense. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - RB Sit-Start Week 10

Sit Lendale White vs. Bears - The Bears have a great defense, but the main reason to sit White is Chris Johnson's continued assault on his playing time. White has under 20 carries combined in the last two games. If he doesn't score, you won't score in your fantasy league. Ryan Grant vs. Vikings - He is slowly getting better, but the Vikings will force Rodgers to the air....Grant won't score much, if any. Joe Addai vs. Steelers - Remember last year when you NEVER sat Joe Addai? Not this year. Sit him against a Steeler D that will shut him down. Start DeAngelo Williams vs. Raiders - With jonathan Stewart looking unlikely to play, Williams is in line for all of the carries.....and points. Mewelde Moore vs. Colts - Same as above....FWP is out.....Moore is a starting option again for your fantasy team. Brandon Jacobs vs. Eagles - The best way to beat the Eagles is to run straight at them. Guess what Jacobs does best. He will add a few Eagles to his "You got trucked" highlight reel. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 10

Start Kurt Warner vs. 49ers - The Greatest Show on Turf reborn goes to S.F. Warner, Fitz, and A.B. will have a field day against these guys in front of a national audience. David Garrard vs. Lions - The Lions make everyone look good. Garrard would make a good spot start this week as the Jags get back on track against the lonely Cats. Jake Delhomme vs. Raiders - Delhomme will hook up with Steve Smith often...especially since the Raiders have no one who can guard Smith even a little bit. Matt Ryan vs. Saints - Drew Brees will continue on his record pace, which will allow Ryan to get huge numbers trying to keep up. He won't be able to match Brees, but project a good fantasy start. Sit Eli Manning vs. Eagles - Eli hasn't been his normal solid fantasy self lately...and the Eagles blitz packages should continue that trend for another week. Donovan McNabb vs. Giants - Donovan played well last week, but the Giants have been flat out lights out. Look elsewhere for a good fantasy starter this week. -Scout Widget

Thursday, October 30, 2008

Scout Widget - WR Sit-Start Week 9

Start Plaxico Burress vs. Cowboys -Time for Plax to get back to his TD scoring ways against a sturggling Dallas team. 130 yards, 2 TDs. Reggie Wayne vs. Patriots - The Colts love beating Beli-Cheat, so watch Indy run up the score if they can. Wayne will be the main beneficiary . 120 yards, 2 TDs. Lee Evans vs. Jets - Evans has become a valuable starter with Trent Edwards great improvement....no reason that will change here. 100 yards, 1 TD. Sit Bengals WRs vs. Jags - No Palmer, no improvement, no start'em. Bobby Engram vs. Eagles - Even Hasslebeck himself may not be able to save Engram's fantasy value...at least not quickly, anyways. Terrell Owens vs. Giants - Brad can't get him the ball and Roy Williams is taking away looks...only a matter of time before he melts down. Scout Widget

Scout Widget - RB Sit-Start Week 9

Start Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Bengals - MLD dissapointed last week against a week Browns defense, but he will make up for it this week against the Bungles. 150 total yards, 2 TDs. Matt Forte vs. Lions - Yes, the Lions are getting better, which will make sure Matt Forte has to stay on the field to keep the game from getting close....but thanks to him, it won't be. 150 total yards, 2TDs. Bucs RBs vs. Chiefs - While Earnest Graham will get the majority of the carries, even Warrick Dunn will get enough to warrant a start against the woeful Chiefs. Expect 75 to 125 total yards and 1 TD per RB. Sit Ryan Grant vs. Titans - With only one 100 yard game this year, Grant won't fare much better against one of the better defenses in the NFL. Julius Jones vs. Eagles - With no real threat to pass deep, Jones will find very little running room against the aggressive Eagle D. Thomas Jones vs. Bills - Not only will Jones fight a solid Bills defense, he will be fighting losing playing time to Leon Washington, who had a great game last week and is nipping at Thomas' heels for playing time. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 9

Start Donovan McNabb vs. Seahawks - Donovan gets his chance to embarrass the Seahawk defense this wee. Expect Nabb to put up good numbers down the field, as well as reap the benefits of his dumpoff passes that Westbrook takes to the house. 300 yards, 3 TDs. Eli Manning vs. Cowboys - Expect Manning to get back to putting up big numbers against a Cowboy defense that has been ravaged by injuries and ineptness. While the Giants will be able to run on the Boys, Manning to Burress will hook up early and often. 250 yards, 2 TDs. Chad Pennington vs. Broncos - Jay Cutler isn't the only QB in this game worth starting. Pennington will again hook up with his favorite target, Mr. Ginn Jr., against the lax Bronco pass defense. 225 yards, 2 TDs. Sit Jason Campbell vs. Pittsburgh - While Campbell has calmly put up solid numbers over the last few weeks, Blitzburgh should put an end to his solid fantasy play. Watch for Campbell to be limited to short passes against Pitt. Brett Farve vs. Bills - Farve is slinging the ball, but to both teams. The Bills defense could provide a stout test for Farve during the Jets' road trip. Aaron Rodgers vs. Titans - While Rodgers may have a decent game, owners should be on the lookout for a less than average performance from Rodgers. -Scout Widget

Thursday, October 23, 2008

Scout Widget - WR Sit-Start Week 8

Who will be catching lots of balls this week?: Start Antonio Bryant vs. Cowboys - Bryant will keep his job after Joey Galloway returns.....and will continue to produce against a Cowboy secondary that is as holy as a cotton shirt at a moth convention. Garcia will find his favorite target often. 100 yds, 1 TD. Vincent Jackson vs. Saints - Vince has stepped up big time in Chris Chambers absence, recording over 200 total yards and 2 TDs in his last two games. Expect Rivers to continue to find him this week against a weak Saints defense. 90 yards, 1 TD. Lee Evans vs. Dolphins - Trent Edwards is fully back from his concussion, which means Lee Evans should continue his good play. Evans is currently on pace for 1389 yards and 8 TDs... a pace that should continue this week against the Dolphins. 100 yards, 1 TD. Sit Roy Williams vs. Buccaneers - Roy is still not fully immersed in the system...and may not be until late in the year. Combine that with Brad "The Statue" Johnson at the helm and you get what should be a Roy Williams-less fantasy lineup. Braylon Edwards vs. Jaguars - Whoever said, "Drop it like it's hot" was thinking of Braylon. Can't trust him till he works out his issues with catching the ball. Eagles WRs vs. Atlanta - They are only #3 fantasy WRs at best. They may get good stats, but which one? If you like consistency, don't play the guessing game here. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - RB Sit-Start Week 8

Start Thomas Jones vs. Chiefs - It's Thomas Jones against the Chiefs. If they can't catch Lendale "The Hamburgler" White, they won't catch Jones. 150 total yards, 2 TDs. Willis McGahee vs Raiders - Willis finally got through an entire game healthy, and rewarded owners with 152 total yards and a TD. Willis gets another chance to improve against the Raiders, who couldn't stop Thomas Jones last week. 140 total yards and 1 TD. Steve Slaton vs. Bengals - The Bengals are actually somewhat (I said somewhat) mediocre against the pass, and doubling Andre Johnson will leave plenty of room for Slaton to perform. 130 total yards and 1 TD. Sit Chiefs RBs vs. Jets - They are either trying to become better "future fathers" or they just aren't good. There has got to be better options for you. Dominic Rhodes vs Tennessee - Tennessee allows less than 90 yards rushing (average) per game and have allowed more than 1 TD total only once this season. Maybe Rhodes gets the TD, but he won't get the yards. Bench him. Jamal Lewis vs. Jacksonville - The Browns just aren't clicking in the passing game, which leads to stacked fronts for Lewis. Not that the Jags will need to do any stacking to stop Lewis. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 8

Time for some knowledge on our Leather-Chuckers: Start: Jeff Garcia vs. Dallas - Jeff finally looked to get his starting QB feet fully under him last week, throwing for 321 yards and a TD against the lowly Seahawks. It stays easy this week. The Cowboy defense has been porous to say the least, so watch Garcia continue to improve his rapport with the Buc WRs. 250 yds, 2 TDs. Donovan McNabb vs. vs. Atlanta - He finally has a healthy receiving crew. McNabb will have Brown, Curtis, and Jackson for Sunday's game vs. the Falcons. McNabb has had some up and down games this year, but health plus bye week equals production for McNabb owners. 250 yds, 2 TDs, 20 yards rushing. J.T. O'Sullivan vs. Seattle - If Garcia did it, why can't J.T.? The Bucs are not known as a passing team, but the 49ers, with Mad Martz at the offensive helm, have been more than happy to pour on the aerial attack. O'Sullivan struggled with turnovers last week against a good Giants team, but Martz likes this kid and will give him every chance to succeed. O' Sullivan will have the tools this week, Issac Bruce and upcoming rookie Josh Morgan, to get the job done for your fantasy team. Oh yeah...and last time they played in Seattle, he lit them up for 321 and a TD. Expect sightly better at home with some more experience under his belt. 250 yds, 2 TDs. Sit Eli Manning vs. Pittsburgh - Ugh. Manning has been slumping as of late, and Burress getting beat up again doesn't help. With the number one pass defense staring down his grill, don't expect much from the boy Manning. Matt Cassel vs. Rams - I know, I know. "Are you kidding me...IT'S THE RAMS!!!" Easy tiger. The Rams last two opponents had much more success running than passing, and the only reason the Cowboys go the yards they did was because of garbage time throws. New England knows this and will try to duplicate last week's rushing attack from the Broncos game and manage the game on the ground, leaving Cassel little chance to put up big numbers. He shouldn't surpass 200 yards and a TD this week. Look elsewhere for big numbers. Matt Ryan vs. Eagles - The rookie vs. Eagle Defensive Coordinator Jim Johnson, who has had two weeks to prepare for this game. Ryan is improving.....but he will not be able to find the guy Johnson blitzes from the stands.....or at least, that's where it seems like where he is coming from...... -Scout Widget

Sin City Scout: WR - Sit-Start Week 7

Sit Chris Chambers - San Diego @ Buffalo The tough Buffalo pass defense will give Rivers trouble and there will likely not be a lot of scoring. Santonio Holmes - Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati The Bengals tough pass defense (4th overall at 167.3 yards per game) combined with a home game against their rival the Steelers should mean a tough game for Homes. Start Muhsin Muhammad - New Orleans @ Carolina It could be a mini-shootout if Drew Brees has his way. This could mean 6 to 8 catches and 80 yards for Muhammad and a shot at a TD. Bernard Berrian - Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago May not seem like the best place to start him on the road in Chicago, but the Bears pass defense isn't that good (a 26th worst 236.3 yards per game) and Gus Frerotte is throwing his way deep a lot. He should be good for 4 catches 102 yards and 1 TD. Rashied Davis - Minnesota Vikings @ Chicago A sleeper that has amassed 10 catches for 138 yards and 1 TD in the last 2 games. The Viking pass defense is average (210.3 yards per game). Donnie Avery - Dallas Cowboys @ St. Louis Rams The Cowboys are without 3 of their starting defensive backs, including both corners. If the Rams were ever going to do something, this would be the day and Avery could be your sleeper. 4 catches 86 yards and maybe the lucky TD.

Sin City Scout: RB Sit-Start Week 7

Sit Cincinnati Bengals' Running Backs - Pittsburgh @ Cincinnati Probably obvious, but none of them are good, and the Steelers' defense give up under 67 yards a game. Oakland Raiders' Running Backs - N.Y. Jets @ Oakland The Jets strength is their stout run defense which is 3rd overall giving up just 69 yards a game. Fargas is a must bench and if you have to Darren McFadden is startable only because of his big-play ability. Jamal Lewis - Browns @ Washington If you have a backup you may want to consider playing over Lewis who is going into Washington against the 6th overall run defense in the league (83.8 yards per game). Lewis has been very average anyway even though last week he his best game rushing for 88 yards and a TD. The Browns momentum is the only hope here. Start Chris Johnson & LenDale White @ Kansas City Obviously Johnson remains the better start and we rarely recommend starting White unless you have too, but it will not get any better than against the horrible Kansas City run defense which has given up a league-high 182.2 yards a game. Kevin Smith - Detroit Lions @ Houston Texans A bit of a sleeper here, but he looked good last week until he was injured, but he is practicing and should play at 100% on Sunday. The Texans give up 131 yards a game. Look for Smith to catch 5 passes for 45 yards in addition to 50 yards rushing and hope for a TD. Ryan Grant - Colts @ Green Bay You may be forced to play Grant, but even if you are not, this is a good start for him against the Colts defense which has been bad all season. They are giving up 161 yards a game. Grant is way overdue for a good game. 87 yards and 1 TD. Dominic Rhodes - Colts @ Green Bay He is starting with Addai out and should do well against the poor Packer run defense (153.3 rushing yards a game). 82 yards and maybe a TD. Micheal Pittman - Denver @ New England An emergency bye start only, but the Patriots defense has given up a below average 119.4 yards rushing per game. Young is still banged up and Pittman is making the most of it for now. Sammy Morris - Denver @ New England A big emergency sleeper here, but if you have to, Morris is going up against the lowly Bronco run defense (137.5 yards per game) and Morris will get the goal line carries.

Sin City Scout: QB Sit-Start Week 7

Sit Phillip Rivers - Chargers @ Buffalo If you don't have a better option, start him, he should be solid, but the Bills are giving up just 184.8 yards per game passing and not to mention that it is getting chilly in Buffalo. Derek Anderson - Browns @ Washington I know he just had what may be his breakout game of 2008 and the 2007 Pro Bowler is back, well he may be, but don't look for a huge game against the solid Redskin defense especially in Washington. The Skins D gives up 202 yards a game passing (14th overall). Drew Brees threw for just 216 yards and Kurt Warner threw for just 196 yards when the played in Washington. Ben Roethlisberger - Steelers @ Cincinnati Sounds like a good start, but the Bengals D has given up just 167.3 yards per game (4th overall), the Bengals are at home, the Steelers offense is banged up and finally the Bengals are tough rivals who will play the Steelers tough. Start Jake Delhomme - New Orleans @ Carolina He plays well at home and the New Orleans pass defense (227.3 yards passing per game) is below average. Brees should put up enough points to keep Delhomme throwing. He might break 300 yards and 3 TD's, but 270 yards and 2TD's is a safer bet. Marc Bulger - Dallas @ St. Louis This is only if you are in need during the bye, but lets face it the Cowboy secondary is week right now, giving up 212.8 passing yards per game and now Adam Jones is out. The Rams got a win last week and winning is a huge step. He could toss 265 yards and 1-2 TD's. Jeff Garcia - Seattle @ Tampa Bay Another sleeper for the bye. The Seahawks defense (and offense) has been bad giving up 212.8 yards passing per game. The Buc's are at home and Garcia seemed to get his confidence back last week going 15-20 for 173yards and 1 TD. He should get 230 yards and 1 or 2 TD's.

Scout Widget: WR Sit-Start Week 6

Start Santana Moss vs. Rams - Guarantee: Moss WILL catch a ball this week. The Rams will have to make an effort to stop the Skins ball control run offense, which will result in Moss getting plenty of catches.....and his Mojo back. 110 yards, 1 TD. Steve Smith vs. Buccaneers - The Bucs are good at stopping the run, which should force Jake Delhomme to visit his favorite target, Mr. Smith, frequently. I'm not sure if the Panthers will win, but it sure won't be Steve's fault. 100 yards, 1 TD. Desean Jackson vs. 49ers - The Eagles will take their frustrations out on the 49ers. With Westbrook out, however, they will look to a man for receiving yards. Enter the rook...just make sure you cross the goal line WITH the ball. 100 yards, 1 TD. Sit Braylon Edwards vs. Giants - Until Braylon proves he can catch the ball (and a Browns QB can get him the ball) consistently, you should sit him. He will eventually have a big game, but not against the Giants this week. Roddy White vs. Bears - Ignore the fact Matt Ryan will be pressured all night long by an experienced Bear defense. Ignore the fact Roddy will get five yards downfield and Ryan will have to throw immediately if he doesn't want to get sacked. You are still left with a player who has not been cleared to play because of a head injury. Not good. All Bucs receivers vs. Panthers - Neither Bucs QB would be able to get the ball to any Bucs WR against this Panther defense. Expect the Bucs to keep the ball on the ground and pray for the NFL to revert to the "no forward passing" rule. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget: RB Sit-Start Week 6

Start Marion Barber vs. Cardinals - The Cowboys will continue to feed Barber the ball this week more than TO, except Barber may actually put some TDs together with those 25+ carries. Expect Barber's biggest game of the year. 160 total yards, 2 TDs. Ronnie Brown vs. Texans - The Wildcat is paying huge dividends to Brown owners, and should look for another good game this week. Brown keeps gaining a stronger and stronger foothold on the starting RB job in Miami, who will be playing a Texan team who is tied for six in fantasy points allowed to RBs. 120 total yards, 1 TD. Reggie Bush vs. Raiders - Bush has had some tough games from scrimmage against the Vikings and 49ers, but look for him to get back on track against a Raider defense that has been allowing a lot of fantasy points to RBs. 100 total yards, 1 TD. Sit Joe Addai vs. Ravens - Not that you would sit hm, but don't expect much from Addai this week. Addai has struggled against good run defenses this year (see Bears and Vikings), and the Ravens have allowed the least fantasy points from running backs this season. If you have two more good options, give Addai the week off. Jamal Lewis vs. Giants - The Giants get a lot of attention for their pass rush, but don't forget they have allowed the second least fantasy points to running backs this season. The Browns, who have been struggling offensively, won't be able to rely on Jamal Lewis in this one, and neither should you. DeAngelo Williams/Jonathan Stewart vs. Bucs - Don't expect another career day for DeAngelo...or for Jonathan, for that matter. The Bucs have a staunch run defense and should force the Panthers to the air in this matchup. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget: QB Sit-Start Week 6

Start Brett Farve vs. Bengals - The old man strikes again. The Bengals just can't seem to stop anyone, and it won't get any better this week against a team that has had a week to rest. Farve will hit Coles and Cotchery deep all day long. Look for a good game from the NFL senior citizen. 300 YDS, 3 TDs. Eli Manning vs. Browns - Eli keeps getting better and better. Oh yeah...and the Browns aren't good, either. The Giants will pressure Derek Anderson into turnovers, which should provide Manning and a reinstated Plaxico Burress multiple chances to hook up in the end zone. 275 YDS, 2 or 3 TDs. Donovan McNabb vs. 49ers - Yes, the 49ers have had same good offensive games, but the defense has still been lacking. If the 49ers can at least keep the game somewhat close, McNabb should be forced to play well to win the game. He will and will improve greatly on last week's dissapointing performance. 250 YDS, 2 TDs. Sit Gus Frerotte vs. Lions - Ignore the matchup. The Vikings still see Gus as a game manager, so expect the Vikings to win this one with a heavy dose of Adrian Peterson . With Jon Kitna either hurt or not playing, the Lions will have trouble keeping up and the Vikings should have no real reason to throw the football. If the Vikings go out of character and try to pass through the Lions, Gus could have a decent game, but all signs point to Gus throwing no more than 16 or 17 passes in this game. J.T. O'Sullivan vs. Eagles - J.T. has suprised so far, but he will face an Eagle team that is foaming at the mouth after a 2-3 start. Expect the Eagles to be out for blood this week.................and J.T. O'Sullivan to be the carcass. Matt Hasslebeck vs. Packers - He's hurt and has lost Deion Branch...again. Even with the Packer secondary fighting injuries, Matt will have problems moving and finding open receivers. -Scout Widget

Scout Widget: WR Sit-Start Week 5

WR knowledge on tap: Start Marvin Harrison at Texans - The Colts had a bye to regroup and will take it out on a Texan team that was shredded by a run-first Jaguar crew. The Texans will have to double Reggie Wayne, which will leave Marvin one-on-one. This will be Marvin's breakout game. 100 yds and 2 TDs. Lee Evans vs. Cardinals - While money may make some complacent, I believe Lee is different. After watching Farve go nuts on the Cards last week, Lee Evans will get some deep catches at the very least and provide good numbers for fantasy owners. 110 yds and 1 TD. Eddie Royal at Bucs - The Broncos will be back at home and will fix whatever the heck went wrong last week in KC. Royal will have the opportunity to take advantage of Brandon Marshall's double teams on his way to a solid game. 100 yds and 1 TD. Sit Santana Moss vs. Eagles - Moss has lit up opposing defenses and ranks as one of the top WRs in fantasy, but will face a tough test this week against the Eagles. The Philly blitz will make it tough for Moss to get open deep, so expect a less than stellar game. Calvin Johnson vs. Bears - Calvin may be a great receiver, but this will be a bad week for the Lion offense, as the Bears will for short pass after short pass as Kitna tries to evade the rush. Bobby Engram vs. Giants - Not quite ready to take over as the number one...especially against a Giant team that had a week to rest.

Scout Widget: RB Sit-Start Week 5

The RB Start-Sit list: Start Matt Forte vs. Lions - Forte gets better every week at the pro level, and now he gets to play a college team....well, college level, at least. He will beast. Steve Slaton vs. Colts - Bob Sanders is stillout, so the Colts run defense will be REALLY AWFUL this week. Slaton has all but stolen the starting job from the oft-injured Ahman Green, but look for him to put the nail in Green's coffin this week when he runs roughshod on the Colts. Earnest Graham vs. Broncos - Earnest Graham isn't Larry Johnson, but he will be able to toast the Broncos front seven for many a yard. Even if the Broncos strike early with the pass, the Bronco pass defense is bad enough that the Bucs will be able to move Graham close to the endzone so he can get his 1 or 2 yard TD runs. Either way, Graham is a great start against the Broncos much weaker side of the ball. Sit Lions RBs vs. Bears - Whether it is Rudi or Kevin, neither will be able to penetrate the defense that absolutely smothers the run. Reggie Bush vs. Vikings - Look for Reggie to have another sub-par day against a stout Vikings D. And you thought it was tough last week vs. the 49ers. Add in the Deuce getting goalline touches and Bush is a horrible start this week. Larry Johnson vs. Panthers - News flash: After reviewing the week 5 schedule, I have concluded that Larry Johnson does NOT get to play the Broncos again next week. Bench him.

Scout Widget: QB Sit-Start Week 5

Which pigskin chucker eould be a good start for your fantasy team? Look no further: Start Phillip Rivers vs. Dolphins - Rivers didn't perform as expected against the Raiders, but should bounce back against a Dolphin team that is allowing the sixth most fantasy QB points and still struggling to improve. Kyle Orton vs. Lions - Orton managed the game against the Eagles brilliantly, and manged to throw for about 200 yards and 3 TDs in the process. If you are in a pinch for a bye week QB, Orton could be the man to get you at least 200 yards and 2 TDs against a porous Lions pass defense. Jake Delhome vs. Chiefs - No, Chiefs fans....your defensive problems have not been solved. The Chiefs will not be able to control the clock with the run game, like last week against the Broncos. This means Delhomme will have plenty of chances to replicate his 294 yard, 2 TD performance from last week. Sit Jason Campbell vs. Eagles - After a few good weeks, Campbell will get a true test against a blitz happy Philly defense. Will Campbell could have ok numbers, chances are that Cambell will have a hard time reading the blitzes in a very hostile environment, causing him to take a step back this week. Matt Schaub vs. Colts - Last week was a mirage for two reasons. One, The Jags defense is not what it was last year and too much credit is being given to the offenses facing them. Two, the Colt team he faces this week is horrible against the run, which will give Steve Slaton multiple opportunities tomake plays, not Schaub. The only way Schaub puts up solid stats is to hit a lot of deep passes, because he just won't get the opportunities to show what he can do with Slaton starring this week. Matt Cassel vs. 49ers - Yes, the Pats had a bye week to prepare, but unless Cassel has been injected with Brady's DNA, he will still be unable to throw a consistent deep ball, limiting his ceiling. Oh yeah, and 19 teams have allowed more fantasy points (on average) to QBs than the 49ers do.

Scout Widget: TE Sit-Start Week 4

Start Heath Miller vs. Ravens - Ben Rothlisberger is beat up, and the Ravens will come after him, forcing Ben to take the underneath stuff. Heath Miller will be that man underneath and should be able to duplicate last week's effort against the Eagles.....and score. 70 yards and 1 TD. Tony Scheffler vs. Chiefs - Tony didn't do so great last week, but should improve this week against a bad KC defense. Cutler should find him often, with a possibility of a score. 60 yards and maybe a TD. Dustin Keller vs. Cardinals - Brett Farve loves Keller. Remember the days when Farve loved Bubba Franks? Keller has much more talent than Franks ever did, and should have success in a high scoring game. 60 yards and 1 TD. Sit Bo Scaife vs. Vikings - On again, off again. This week, he plays a physical Viking defense that won't let him get open down the middle. He is off this week. Jerramy Stevens vs. Packers - I know you are desperate for TEs, but last time I checked, Alex Smith is the starting TE for Tampa, and for good reason. Don't expect Stevens to duplicate last week's performance against the Pack.....maybe not the rest of the year.

Scout Widget: WR Sit-Start Week 4

Yes....start Brandon Marshall. Need some more genius ideas. Here are some other more difficult lineup decisions for week 4: Start: Chad Johnson vs. Browns - I said the same about Carson Palmer...start him, then try and trade him. TJ Housh will get his, but there should be enough left over for "Zero Cinco" against the lowly Browns. 100 yards and 1 TD. Dwayne Bowe vs. Broncos - Yes...I have a man-crush on Mr. Bowe. As soon as Huard was announced the starter, the #2/#3 fantasy receiver became a must-start. The Broncos can throw the rock, but they also allow the sixth most fantasy points to WRs among other NFL teams. He will score at least once in this shootout. 120 yards and 1 (or 2) TDs. Lee Evans vs. Rams - Evans has caught four balls in all three games this year. He may catch more than four here, and should break one deep for a score against a Rams' pass D that is in disarray. 110 yards and 1 TD. Sit: Steeler WRs vs. Ravens - The Ravens have been surprisingly stout against the pass, ranking as the best team in fantasy points allowed to WRs. Combine that with a banged up Ben Rothlisberger, and you would need a lucky TD for your Steeler WR to post anything respectable. Roddy White vs. Panthers - The Falcons will try to pound the ball with Michael Turner, so expect Ryan to not throw the ball much. As good as he is, he may not have enough opportunities to score fantasy points this week. Torry Holt vs. Bills - It's time to face the facts: The Rams suck, they are starting 38 year-old Trent Green, and they suck. Torry Holt owners....this is your life.

Scout Widget: RB Sit-Start Week 4

While staying away from the obvious, we once again try to provide you with some insightful RB knowledge for Week 4: Start: Chris Perry vs. Browns - Chris Perry, while not getting great yardage, has managed to score touchdowns. Against the Brownies, he gets both. 130 total yards and 1 TD. MJD VS. Texans - His ankle didn't cause him any problems vs. the Colts...expect a few more carries and the same success this week. A normal start is now a must start. 140 total yards and 1 TD. Selvin Young vs. Chiefs - Doesn't get goal line carries, but a great flex start against a struggling Chiefs defense. Should jump ahead early and finish with the running game. 120 total yards and maybe a TD. Sit: Rashard Mendenhall vs. Ravens - He had 10 carries for 28 yards in week 1 against the Texans and has not had a carry since. Oh...and he sent a "smack" message to Ray Rice, who happens to work with the team he will face this week. No thanks. There HAS to be someone better on your roster Matt Forte vs. Eagles - I am having trouble typing this, but Forte may have a bad game against the Eagles. If you have a good number 3 RB with a favorable matchup, play him. If you don't, Forte still may get enough yards to make his stat line decent, but don't expect the normal fireworks. 6o totals yards is realistic, 100 total yards is the ceiling. Lendale White vs. Vikings - The guy gets his points from TDs, but he is due not to score, and there is no way he runs for very many yards against this stout D. If he doesn't get in the endzone, he will thoroughly disappoint. Expect no more than 40 total yards and maybe, I stress maybe, 1 TD.

Scout Widget - QB Sit-Start Week 4

Time to find the QB gems for Week 4: Start: Kurt Warner vs. Jets - Rivers carved the Jets up on Monday night...expect for Warner, who has two even better receivers, to do the same. 250 yards and 3 TDs. Trent Edwards vs. Rams - Ummm....they're playing the Rams. Not a great stat line, but decent if your main guy is on a bye. 225 yards and 2 TDs. J.T. O'Sullivan vs. Saints - Whatever Martz is doing, it's working...at least against the bad defenses. Another sneaky play in leu of bye weeks. 275 yards and 1 or 2 TDs. Carson Palmer vs. Browns - Start him...then trade him immediately. 250 yards and 2 TDs. Sit: Derek Anderson vs. Bengals - Yes, it is the Bengals, but Anderson is one pick away from becoming Brady Quinn's personal clipboard holder. Insert all Rams QBs here - Trust me....there are more problems in St. Louis other than the QBs.

Sin City Scout: RB Sit Start Week 3

START Kevin Smith - Detroit @ San Francisco Smith has yet to wow anyone, but he has scored a TD and he has caught some passes. This may be his last week of Smith owning the job without serious competition and going up against a 49er defense that his giving up 139 yards a game rushing is a good start. Maurice Jones-Drew - Jacksonville @ Indianapolis The Colts run defense have given up an awful 181 yards per game rushing and even though the Jaguars have problems on the offensive line, Jones-Drew is due for a good game. Julius Jones - St. Louis @ Seattle We went with Jones last week and he rushed for 127 yards and a TD, lets double-up against the Rams with him. Morris is still out. SIT LaDainian Tomlinson - NY Jets @ San Diego The Chargers have other options which include Darren Sproles and at best LT will get part of the carries. Sproles is a risky start as well. The Jets have a good run defense (75.5 yards per game). Steve Slaton - Houston @ Tennessee Slaton is a nice prospect who could pay off, but week 3 at the tough Tennessee defense is not the time to find out how good he is. Willie Parker - Pittsburgh @ Philadelphia The Eagles defense have given up a league low 52 yards a game rushing. If you have a decent option as a backup, you should strongly consider benching Willie Parker in week 3.

Sin City Scout: QB Sit Start Week 3

START Trent Edwards - QB - Oakland @ Buffalo He is an upcoming fantasy player and the Bills are are playing at home against the slightly improved Raiders defense. He is completing 70.9% of his passes and has a 107.7 QB rating. Jason Campbell - QB - Arizona @ Washington He had a good game going 24 of 34 with 321 yards, 1 TD & 0 Int's. It was against the lowly Saints' defense, but Arizona isn't too much better. J.T. O'Sullivan - QB - Detroit @ San Francisco O'Sullivan had a good game going 20 of 32 for 321 yards and 1 TD on the road against a tough Seattle defense and now plays at home against the Lions. Derek Anderson - QB - Cleveland @ Baltimore I know, sounds like the worst place to start Anderson, but maybe not. A division rival may spark the offense for a must win game for the Browns. The Ravens defense is good, but not great and fell apart many times last season. You may have a better option, but don't feel too bad starting Anderson. SIT Carson Palmer - QB - Cincinnati @ NY Giants It is time to bench Palmer if you have a solid backup. It isn't over for him, but playing in New York isn't a likely tome for him to breakout. Matt Shaub - QB - Houston @ Tennessee After a forced week off the Texans travel to Tennessee to face the dominating Titan defense and time consuming run offense. Bench him.

Labels: ,

Scout Widget: TE Sit-Start -- Week 3

A few TE picks for you: Start John Carlson vs. 49ers - Maybe the only Seahawk who can catch a ball. 80 yards, 1 TD. Jeremy Shockey vs. Denver - Can be inconsistent, but a bad Dever defense causes the coin to land on heads this week. Start him. 80 yards, 1 TD. Sit Vernon Davis vs. Seahawks He's the best receiver on the field, yet he got no cathes last week. Ridiculous. Special K (and Defense) Neil Rackers and the Tennesee Defense - The Cardinals will move the ball against an improving Skins defense, but will fail to punch it in when inside the 20. 3 (or more) FGs, 1 XP. Tennesee will shutdown Houston and force at least three turnovers against a Texan team who are still battling Hurricane Ike issues off the field.

Scout Widget: WR Sit-Start -- Week 3

If you need me to say, "Start T.O.." then this is not the place for you. Here are a few harder choices I believe (and do not believe) in: Start Justin Gage vs. Texans - Only to be used if desperate, Gage could have a great day with Collins chucking the rock. The Titans running game will open up the play-action pass, allowing Gage to get behind the defense for at least 1 TD. 100 yards (or slightly less), 1 TD. Calvin Johnson vs. 49ers - Who do the Niners have to cover him? Nobody? Start the emerging second year player in what could be a shootout. 140 yards, 1 TD (at least). Steve Smith vs. Vikings - Carolina won't even try to run on the Vikes. Even if they do, they will learn soon enough to get the ball to their resident boxer. 100 yards, 1 TD...more if he can shake off the rust early. Sit Dywane Bowe vs. Falcons - It will be Tyler Thigpen's turn NOT to get the ball to Bowe. 40 yards, 0 TDs. Bengals WRs vs. Giants - Pass rush + not in sync = Yet another poop-filled Benagl passing performance.

Scout Widget: RB Sit-Start -- Week 3

Even some RB studs look suspect in this week's Sit - Start Start Michael Turner vs. Chiefs - He came back to earth as expected in Week 2, but you check the Raider-Chief box score from last week and tell me what you think he could do. Ryan will throw as much as JaMarcus...which is to say...not much. 150 total yards, 2 TDs...and more??? Julius Jones vs. Rams - After a 127 yard and a TD performance against the Rams as a starter, Jones is looking to duplicate against an equally hapless Rams D. Morris is still out, so expect the same from the Seahawk starting RB. 130 total yards, 1 TD. Chris Johnson vs. Houston - Eventually, Johnson will have a game where he will not let Lendale steal his touchdows. Sunday will be that game. 150 total yards, 1 or 2 TDs. Sit LaDanian Tomlinson vs. Jets - Even if he plays, he is nowhere close to himself. Bench for at least this week and don't allow LT to kill your chance at a win. Both Carolina Backs vs. Vikings - Vikings are angry and you don't know who will get the carries. Steve Smith will start in this one for the Panthers.

Scout Widget: QB Sit-Start -- Week 3

Remember...this is not to point out the elite...we are looking for the overlooked gems in the mud. That being said, last week solidified some things (in my mind) in the world of fantasy Quarterbacking. Start Jay Cutler vs. Saints- Ok...maybe one elite QB. Cutler has tore it up the last two weeks and is poised to be a top five QB, if not better this season. While this seems like the perfect game for Cutler to cool off a bit, he is one of the few QBs who is almost guaranteed not to have a bad game this week. If he stays on track, though, expect a barrel full of points. 275 yards passing, 3 TDs. Jason Campbell vs.Cardinals- The Skins' passing game finally looked on track last week, and the Cardinals could be the perfect team to help them continue the streak. While Campbell won't score a ton of points, he should be a bottom end #1 QB this week and could help owners who have the likes of Hasselbeck or Bulger on their rosters. 250 yards passing, 2 TDs. Matt Cassel vs. Dolphins- Even while trying to "manage" the game, he may accidentally put up good stats against a horrible Dolphin defense. 250 yards passing, 2 TDs. Sit Matt Hasslebeck vs. Mark Bulger - Somehow, both will manage to suck against bad defenses. I don't know how, but don't trust either of them until they have a least two decent games in a row. Ben Rothlisberger vs. Eagles- An injured shoulder and an Eagles defense with bruised egos should combine to make Ben's stat sheet look less than desireable. The Steelers will try to win the game on the ground and keep stress off of their QBs arm. 200 yards passing, 1 TD

Scout Widget: TE Sit - Start Week 2

Disclaimer: Starting Antonio Gates is easy. Here we will help you make the tough decisions at TE to get you those few, extra points that could make or break your fantasy game this weekend. Start Anthony Fasano v. Cardinals - First of all, if this guy is still a free agent, snag him now. The Cardinals like to air it out, so the Dolphins will have to match the aerial attack. That combined with the fact that Penningtons "air strike" is more akin to lobbing water ballons over a fence, expect Pennington's new favorite target (Fasano) to catch a plethora of intermediate passes. Expect 80 yards and maybe a TD. Zach Miller v. Chiefs - Miller has his first chance at a big game this year. The Chiefs' D scares no one and should allow Miller over the middle all day. If he can come through in a big way, he could notch 130 yards and a TD. Otherwise, 70 yards should be enough to make you happy this week. Sit Tony Gonzalez v. Raiders - Normally a must-start, Tony's stats in two games against the Raiders last year added up to 114 yards and 0 TDs. If you have another good TE with a good matchup, this may be the week to roll the dice. Tony Scheffler v. Chargers - With Marshall back, there won't be as many targets left for Scheffler, and much less as he is being shut down by the Chargers' D. Teams tend to be angry after they are shown up, so the Chargers' LBs will be ready to light up anything that crosses the middle of the field (which...hello...is where the TE usually is...). -Scout Widget

Scout Widget: WR Sit - Start Week 2

Disclaimer: It's easy to start Adrian Peterson, but it is much harder to find the diamonds in the rough. This article attempts to find those diamonds....and pieces of coal masquerading as such. Start Greg Jennings v. Detroit - Jennings did a bit better against Minnesota, so I expect solid performances from him for the rest of the season. Jennings should now be considered at least a #2 WR for the rest of the season. Expect at least 100 yards and a TD this week, but he could easily produce 150 and 2. Derrick Mason v. Texans - That's right...start a Raven WR. This maybe the only time a say that this season, though. The Texans will dare Flacco to beat them through the air...and Mason will be the beneficiary. Start him and expect #2/3 WR numbers with 90 yards and 1 TD. Dwayne Bowe v. Raiders - While you don't run with your hands, DeAngelo Hall's definetely affected him against Eddie Royal last week. Expect more of the same this week. Bowe will draw Hall in coverage, and while Hall will improve, Bowe will win the matchup, especially with Huard now at the helm for the Chiefs. Expect at least 110 yards and 1 TD, possibly more vs. a team that is gunning to stop Larry Johnson. Sit Eddie Royal v. Chargers - Brandon Marshall will take over as Cutler's main target, but most importantly Royal will be facing an angry Charger defense after a week 1 loss to the Panthers. The Chargers should not have much trouble limiting the rookie. Expect 60 yards and 0 TDs. Chad Johnson v. Titans - Chad hammed it up last year against the Titans, but this year the Bengals look horrible and Chad's got a bum shoulder. Stay away. Expect under Ocho Cinco (85) yards (probably more like 50) and 0 TDs. Jaguar WRs v. Bills - The Bills CBs looked great last week, but they may not get much work. Garrard is missing 3 of his 5 O-Lineman, so Garrard will be on his back most of the time before he can even get his passes off. -Scout Widget

Sin City Scout: RB Sit - Start Week 2

Start Chris Johnson - Tennessee @ Cincinnati: You should continue and start Johnson over White. Yes White may get more goal line carries, but Johson will make it up with receptions and yards. Steve Jackson - Giants @ Rams: You probably have to start him, but he will improve this week. Julius Jones - 49ers @ Seattle: Seahawks always play well at home and with Morris out Jones should have one of his best games of the year against the average 49er defense. Sit Bengals Running backs - Tennessee @ Cincinnati: There is not much going on with the Bengals and Neither Chris Perry nor Kenny Watson are worth starting yet. Take Perry if you have to play one. Selvin Young - Denver @ San Diego: Denver is mixing it up again with Andre Hall and the stout Charger defense is not the place to guess.

Sin City Scout: QB Sit - Start Week 2

Start Marc Bulger - Giants @ Rams: After last week it is crazy to start Bulger, right? Well, we haven't given up on him or the Ram offense just yet. One more chance. He is at home and Steven Jackson has had another week to get in shape. If he plays well, Bulger should have about 260 yards and 2 TD's. Jesse Campbell - New Orleans @ Washington: Campbell needs to take a step up as QB after the loss to teh Giants and at home against New Orleans is a s good as it gets for Campbell. Brian Griese - Atlanta @ Tampa Bay: He is has the job for now in Tampa and even though they still do not have the best receiving crew, the overall offense looks pretty solid. At home against Atlanta should be a good play in week 2 for Griese. Sit Matt Cassell - New England @ NY Jets: His starting debut may not be much going into New York with the fired up Jet Fans and a solid Jet defense.

Sit - Start Week One

Week One is short and simple. (Until a week or two of data and statistics, you start your top draft picks!) Start Quarterbacks Phillip Rivers - Carolina @ San Diego: Rivers is poised to take another step up the fantasy ladder especially if Chris Chambers and either Vincent Jackson or Craig Davis step up. Gates' injury takes a little shine off, but Rivers makes a nice start in week one. Grade: B Jon Kitna - Detroit @ Atlanta: He is healthy, on turf and playing the Falcons. He makes a very solid start if your #1 QB is playing a better defense. Grade: B- Running Backs Kevin Smith - Detroit @ Atlanta: Smith is the starter and Rudi Johnson should take at least another week to really get some action and besides, didn't the Bengals cut Rudi? Grade: B Laurence Maroney - Kansas City @ New England: With Brady's real status uncertain it is likely that the run game will be a little more prevalent. Maroney was very quiet in preseason, but when it counted at the end of last season, he was gold. Grade: B+ _________________________________________________________________ Bench Len Dale White - Jacksonville @ Tennessee: Chris Johnson looks to become the feature back and will steal many carries away from White. Not to mention Jacksonville defense. Ryan Grant - Minnesota @ Green Bay: He didn't play in the preseason and the Packers will probably not overuse him, not to mention the stout Viking defense. If you have a better option for week one, you should use it. Texans' Backfield - Houston @ Pittsburgh: Steve Slaton is the best option, but let's see how Houston is going to play this. Not starting any against the Steeler defense isn't a bad move anyway. Seahawks' Backfield - Seattle @ Buffalo: Same as above. If you have to start one, you should get 40-60 yards and if you get luck a TD, but this is another situation to stay away from if possible. Buffalo has a solid run defense and Seattle seems to always stink on the road.

2007 Fantasy Football Sit Start

Week 15: Sit Maurice Morris/Shaun Alexander - RB's - Seahawks - The Seahawks will continue to split carries with both, thus it is a situation to stay away from. Fred Taylor/Maurice Jones-Drew - RB's - Jaguars - The last thing you want in the playoffs is a split back situation going up against the Steeler defense in Pittsburgh after that defense was embarrassed the week before. DeShaun Foster - RB - Carolina - Seattle has a pretty good run defense and the Panther offense has little to offer. Williams will likely steal carries as well. Aaron Stecker - RB - Saints - Though we like him as an average start week-to-week, the Saints will be passing not running against the solid Cardinal run defense (11th overall). Freddy Jackson - RB - Bills - It is tough to pick a back to start when they seem to be splitting carries and even though Jackson has been hot, it is Lynch's job and he should get the majority of the carries and yards against the 27th ranked Brown run defense. Willie Parker - RB - Steelers - If you have an alternative, you need to consider benching Parker against the Jaguar's #5 overall run defense. Start Anthony Gonzales - WR - Colts - Came up big and with Harrison is still down he is the Colts #2 WR and is a must start against the lowly Raiders in most cases. Marshawn Lynch - RB - Bills - It is tough to pick a back to start when they seem to be splitting carries but he should get the majority of the carries and yards against the 27th ranked Brown run defense. Earnest Graham - RB - Buccaneers- Should be a no brainer, but some still lack confidence in Graham. He is a better start than many of the big names. Frank Gore - RB - 49ers - The Bengal defense has improved lately and it is possible to have a better option, but Gore could still have a couple good games in him this season and at home against the 22nd overall run defense is as good as it is going to get for Gore. Kevin Jones - RB - Lions - He is always a gamble with the lousy coaching in Detroit, but when they run him, he does well. The Chargers run defense is average at best (18th overall). Ben Roethlisberger - QB - Steelers - The Jaguar pass defense is actually bad (26th overall) and at home the Steelers need a win. He should be good for 300 yards and 3 TD's. Santonio Holmes - WR - Steelers - He is healthy and could come up big against the weak Jaguar pass (26th overall) defense. Jeff Garcia - QB - Buccaneers - He is likely to start and is always good for a solid performance if you are in need especially against the average Falcon secondary whose team is in disarray. Rudi Johnson - RB - Bengals - Just in time for the playoffs, Johnson is healthy and getting the majority of the carries. The 49ers have the 26th overall run defense and this is the best chance for chance to break 100 yards and a TD. Steve Smith - WR - Panthers - You simply have to take the chance and start him. Even without a QB, someone has to catch the passes and he is do to break one...or two big plays. Joey Galloway - WR - Buccaneers - The Falcons were lit up by Colston and the Saints last week and Galloway may do the same. Kurt Warner - QB - Cardinals - It would be a great start against the Saints if not for the injuries in the at WR, but he should still throw a lot of passes and put up good fantasy numbers, even if he throws 2-3 interceptions. Plaxico Burress - WR - Giants - Burress is looked much better last week and is a gamble, but could payoff very big. Eli Manning - QB - Giants - If Burress is healthy, Manning will play well at home against a tired Redskin team. Deion Branch - WR - Seahawks - With Hackett out again Branch is still the best alternative in this high rated pass attack. Lee Evans - WR - Bills - Going up against the 30th ranked defense in a playoff-type game is a must start for Evans. Week 14: Sit Philip Rivers - QB - Chargers - Tennessee has a very good pass defense (8th overall). Rivers has been up and down all year and is not worth the risk unless you are in a bind. Maurice Morris/Shaun Alexander - RB - Seahawks - The Seahawks will continue to split carries with both, thus it is a situation to stay away from. Kevin Jones - RB - Don't risk ever starting him, especially against the tough Dallas run defense. Eli Manning - QB - Giants - The Eagle defense is solid, especially at home and Manning has yet to prove himself in '07. Frank Gore - RB - 49ers - He is facing the #1 rated Viking run defense, the Vikings are hot and he has had a sub par season. Bench him if you have a good back-up. Start Anthony Gonzales - WR - Colts - Bombed last week, but Harrison is still down and the Colts #2 WR can be as good as most #1's. Vernon Davis - TE - 49ers - Only 1 catch last week and like we said tight ends catches go up & down, but he is likely to do as good as any other second-level tight ends. Earnest Graham - RB - Buccaneers- Should be a no brainer, but some still lack confidence in Graham. He is a better start than many of the big names. Hines Ward - WR - Steelers - Keep starting him as long as Homes is out. Luke McCown - QB - Buccaneers- He is likely to start and if you are in need McCown could be up for another big game against the weak Texan secondary. Travis Henry - RB - Broncos - He has won his suspension and might have some new life. Playing against the 20th ranked Chief run defense at home is a great time to try him again. Kolby Smith - RB - Chiefs- He is going up against the 31st ranked run defense. Enough said. Vince Young - QB - Titans - He is still playing well and should continue to play well against the weak Chargers' pass defense. Deion Branch - WR - Seahawks - With Hackett out again and Branch now healthy he should put up good numbers against the Cardinal 22nd rated pass defense. Bobby Engram - WR - Seahawks - SAA. Especially in points per reception leagues. Justin Gage - WR - Titans - He is the main man in Tennessee & if Young does well he should too. Sit - Start Week 13: Sit Kurt Warner - QB - Cardinals - He is looking good and is a great pick up for the playoffs, but on the road against Seattle with Boldin and Fitzgerald banged up may not be very good. Philip Rivers - QB - Chargers - Kansas City quietly has a good pass defense (9th overall). Rivers is looking better, but on the road in Kansas City is not the best time to play the up and down Rivers. Maurice Morris/Shaun Alexander - RB - Seahawks - Morris is an average at best and going up against the tough Philadelphia run defense (7th overall). If Alexander returns, neither will carry a full load. David Garrard - QB - Jaguars - We gave him the start last week, but this week he is facing the #2 overall pass defense on the road (Colts). Kevin Jones - RB - He finally came back big on thanksgiving, but now he is on the road against the #1 run defense, Minnesota. Eli Manning - QB - Giants - The Bear defense is not that good, but until Manning steps it up, he is a fantasy back-up. Rudi Johnson/Kenny Watson - Facing the Pittsburgh 2nd rated run defense on the road and splitting time (though Johnson is getting the majority) makes for a bench. Johnson is the better play of the two if you have to. Start Kurt Warner - QB - Cardinals - He looks healthy enough and is coming off a big fantasy game. Home against Cleveland could mean big numbers 300+ and 3 TD's. Anthony Gonzales - QB - Colts - Harrison is still down and the Colts #2 is as good as most #1's. Vernon Davis - Like must timeouts he will go up & down, but he is likely to do as good as anyone at the tight end position. Frank Gore RB - 49ers - Most managers have stuck with him and now is not the time to stop. Played well last week and the Panther run defense is below average (20th). Dwayne Bowe - WR - Chiefs - Bowe should have a nice day against the soft Charger secondary. 6 catches 100 yards and 1 TD sounds probable. Jason Campbell - QB - Redskins - He was a bench last week, but this week at home against the 29th overall pass defense makes Campbell is a good start. Thomas Jones - RB - Jets - Is usually a bench and might be if you have a better option, but facing the awful Miami run defense (30th) is as good as it gets for Jones. Vince Young - QB - Titans - He is playing well again and should continue to play well against the weak Texans pass defense. Deion Branch - WR - Seahawks - With Hackett out again and Branch now healthy he should put up good numbers even on the road against Philadelphia. Len Dale White - RB - Titans - He bombed against the Bengals, but should rebound and play well against the Texans at home. DeShaun Foster - RB - Panthers - He rarely gets the chance to start in Fantasy -Land, but playing at home against the 49ers lowly run defense (23rd overall) is as good as it gets with him. Jesse Chatman - RB - Dolphins - He is listed as probable and will start. The Ricky Williams "comeback" is over and he should get 100+ and a TD against the 31st ranked run defense. Sidney Rice -WR - Vikings - Looking very deep her, but if you are in need, Rice is the man in Minnesota. Detroit has the #31 pass defense. Bernard Berian - WR - Bears - He is the target for Grossman and could have a big day at home against the Giants. Sit - Start Week 12: Sit DeShaun Foster - RB - Panthers - He rarely gets the chance to start in Fantasy -Land, and the Saints may sound like a good time to play him, but the Saints actually have a solid run defense. Jason Campbell - QB - Redskins - He has been playing well and looks like he is becoming a worthwhile fantasy starter, but not on the road against the tough Buccaneer pass defense (3rd overall). Selvin Young - RB - Broncos - He is banged up and now you have to worry about Andre Carter stealing carries. Wait a week and see how this plays out. Kevin Curtis - WR - Going into New England without Donovan McNabb. Enough said. Roy Williams - WR - Until he shows otherwise, you need to find a better option. Thomas Jones - RB - Jets - They will be playing from behind and the Cowboys have an excellent run defense. Raider Offense - The Chiefs have a good defense, they are playing in KC and the Raiders stink. Start Chester Taylor - RB - Vikings - At home against the weak Raiders Taylor's fresh legs should be good for 100+ and a TD. Seattle Pass Offense - They are red hot. Matt Hasselbeck and D.J. Hackett are a must and Deion Branch and Bobby Engram are considerations against the Ram's average pass defense (lean to Engram). Pittsburgh Offense - After being embarrassed against the lowly Jets, Pittsburgh is likely to be fired up at home and should take it out against the Dolphins. Holmes is the better of the receivers, but Ward may make a nice start too. Matt Shaub - QB - Texans - Just the presences of Andre Johnson should help Shaub, but if he contributes Shaub should play well again against the weak Brown defense. Jay Cutler - QB - Broncos - The Bears defense is very average and Cutler is coming into his own. He will not have a huge game but should be good for 250 yards and 2 Td's. Brandon Marshall - WR - Broncos - Same as above. Marc Bulger - QB - Rams - He is healthy, playing well , at home and playing against the lowly Seahawk pass defense. It could turn into a shootout. Eli Manning - QB - Giants - The Vikings can stop the run, but can't stop the pass. Manning should have a big game at home. Viking starting CB Antoine Winfield is likely out. Vince Young - QB - Titans - He is starting to play well again and should continue to play well against the weak Bengal pass defense (24th overall). Justin Gage - WR - Titans - Same as above. Len Dale White - RB - Titans - The Bengal run defense also stinks and the Titan O-Line is very good. Kevin Walter - WR - Texans - We still think he is a good start in points-for-receptions leagues with Johnson & Shaub healthy, especially against the lowly Browns defense. Kevin Jones - RB - Lions - If the Lions give him the ball more, he will do well. Look for him to get 80+ and maybe a TD. Chad Johnson over Chris Henry - WR - Bengals - All the talk of Johnson's failure are simply wrong. Yes his TD total's are low, but his stats are not (53 catches for 938 yards in 10 games). Henry is still a third receiver and though week-to-week he may beat out Johnson or T.J. overall he will not. David Garrard - QB - Jaguars - He simply doesn't throw interceptions (0 in 2007) and has gotten a little better every week. The Bills pass defense is awful and with Lynch out, they will have trouble controlling the clock. Garrard could have his best game. Kolby Smith - RB - Chiefs - It is a great place for the rookie's debut. At home against the weak Oakland defense (31 overall). Week 11: Sit Jesse Chatman - RB - Miami - The Eagles will likely attempt to take Chatman out of the game. The addition of Ricky Williams shouldn't have a major affect this week, but doesn't help. Philip Rivers - QB - San Diego - He has been struggling and going on the road in Jacksonville is not the place for a turn-around. Steve Smith - WR - Carolina - He is injured, the Panthers don't have a QB and he is facing the tough Packer defense. Need more? Priest Holmes - RB - Kansas City - The Colts have their injury problems, but they should be okay against the run and Holmes, while looking okay, was nothing exciting. Thomas Jones - RB - Jets - Not a shocker, but just a reminder that he is very average and is going against the stiff Pittsburgh run defense. Start Chester Taylor - RB - Vikings - At home against the weak Raiders Taylor's fresh legs should be good for 100+ and a TD. Matt Shaub - QB - Texans - Just the presences of Andre Johnson should help Shaub, but if he contributes Shaub might light it up against the Saint in Houston. Cleveland Passing Offense - Yes it is in Baltimore, but there pass defense is awful with their injuries. Start'em all. Kevin Walter - WR - Texans - The return of Andre Johnson & Matt Shaub may give Walter one of his biggest games. Oh yeah, and the a playing the Saints at home. Ron Dayne - RB - Texans - If you are in need of a RB, against the Saints is as good as it gets for Dayne. Adimchinobi Echemandu could get his fair share of attempts, but is too risky. Rudi Johnson - RB - Bengals - He still hasn't played well, but he did get 22 carries last week, showing he is ready to take the full running load. Facing the weak Cardinal defense helps. D.J. Hackett - WR - Seahawks - Keep starting him. The Seahawks are going to pass, pass, pass and Hackett is the real deal. Donovan McNabb - QB - Philadelphia - He has been inconsistent, so he is always a risk, but vs. the Dolphin secondary, at home, is too much to pass up. Len Dale White - RB - Titans - The Broncos run defense stinks and the Titan O-Line is very good. Week 10: Sit Ryan Grant - RB - Green Bay - He may sneak in a TD and be worthwhile, but the combination of the Vikings run defense with their great time consuming run game should leave him very few opportunities. Bronco Offense - The Chiefs defense is very underrated and is playing well, especially at playing at home against their division rivals. Denver is struggling. Cleveland Offense - Only Kellen Winslow should be starting on the road in Pittsburgh. Maybe Braylon Edwards if you must. Cincinnati Running Backs - The only thing Baltimore can do to is stop the run. Rudi Johnson is still injured, though he may play and Kenny Watson should be stuffed. Cedric Benson - RB - Chicago - Not a shocker here, but just reminding you that he is a bum. Marvin Harrison - WR - Colts - Not worth the risk, listed as Questionable. The Colts should be saving him for the playoffs. Shaun Alexander - RB - Seattle - He has not practiced because of several injuries & he has been a bum all year. Start Brett Farve - QB - Packers - At home against the rather weak Vikings secondary would give Farve a 2-3 TD game and 300 yards. Gregg Jennings - WR - Packers - He is the now main man in Green Bay. AS Farve goes, he is likely to go. Jesse Chatman - RB - Miami - The Bill run defense is below average and Chatman's fresh legs are about the only thing going on in Miami. Should be good for 80 yards & a TD & some receptions. Pittsburgh Offense - Start'em all! At home against the lowly Cleveland defense. David Patten - WR - Saints - If you are in need of a WR start, Patten has 19 catches for 332 yards in the last 4 games. With Brees hot all 3 Saint WR's are worth a shot. Arizona & Detroit Offenses - Start'em all! Eli Manning - QB - Giants- There is worry with Burress' continued injury, but Manning should still have a good game at home against the Cowboys, especially if the game turns into a Romo vs. Manning shoot out. Tank Johnson will play for the Cowboys & this should slow Brandon Jacobs down, but not stop him from 70+ & a TD. D.J. Hackett - WR - Seahawks - Finally showed up last week. Look for him to expand his role in the offense and get 6 catches for 90+. Brian Griese - QB - Chicago - Oakland's defense has struggled and the Bears my take out the frustrations against a much weaker Oakland team. Greg Olsen - TE - Chicago - Is getting better & better. See above. Aaron Moorehead - WR - Colts - Harrison is not likely to play much, Gonzales is out and equally as important, Quentin Jammer, the Chargers starting corner is out. If you are in need, you may get luck with Moorehead. Maurice Morris - RB - Seahawks - He may start and can be an emergency play for you, even if he doesn't start. Vernon Davis - TE - 49ers - He should be starting all year for your offense, he is all the 49ers have at this point. Week 9: Sit Baltimore - Passing Offense - Heap may not play, OT Ogden may not play & McNair is coming off an injury, WR Mason won't score and they are all going into Pittsburgh. Bench them all. Vince Young - QB - Titans - Hasn't done much since the injury, don't take a chance now. The Titans should be running a lot anyway. Marion Barber - RB - Cowboys - This is a bench'em only if you have a solid alternative. Playing in Philadelphia is always tough and the Eagles have a good run defense (8th overall). DeShaun Foster - RB - Carolina - An average back, with a lousy QB play on the road against the #1 run defense. Start Drew Brees - QB - Saints - Yes the Jaguar defense is tough, but you have to ride the hot hand of Brees & the Saints, especially at home. Donovan McNabb - QB - Eagles - Starting CB Henry is still out and the Cowboy secondary is average. The Eagles will be pumped for this game & do their best to stay even with Romo & the Cowboys. Kevin Curtis - WR - Same as above. Earnest Graham - RB - Tampa Bay - He is at home against the Cardinals. He has been playing very solid ball and is good for 80 yards & 1 TD, plus a few receptions. Lee Evans - WR - Bills - Just a reminder, he is hot! Plus the Bills get the Bengals at home. Jeff Garcia - QB - Tampa Bay - Failed last week against the tough Jaguar Defense, but will not do the same against the Cardinals. LenDale White - RB - Titans - Chris Brown is still injured & he continues to play well. D.J. Hackett - WR - Seahawks - Looks to finally be back from his injury and he should have a good game against the weak Brown secondary. Hines Ward - WR - Steelers - We generally like Holmes better, but Ward should get several receptions & 1 TD at home against Baltimore and outplay Holmes. Kevin Walter - WR - Texans - Remains a very good start in points for reception leagues & a solid start in any league playing against an up and down Raider defense. Jason Campbell - QB - Redskins - He is a good QB who has a solid fantasy day every now and then. This should be one of those good days. Antwaan Randle El - WR - Redskins - If you are in need for a WR start...same as above. Clinton Portis - RB - Redskins - Has been a fantasy bust, but like Campbell, this should be one of his batter starts. Vernon Davis - TE - 49ers - He may be the only bright spot on a woeful offense. Week 8: Sit Jon Kitna - QB - Lions - The Bear defense is what is was last year, but Kitna hasn't been playing well nor does he do great on the road. Ravens - Offense - Playing at Pittsburgh, most are banged up including OT Ogden. Donovan McNabb - QB - Eagles - On the road against an good Minnesota defense and he hasn't done a whole lot lately. Kevin Curtis might need to join him on your bench. Lamont Jordan - RB - Oakland - On the road against the tough Tennessee defense. He is struggling and Dominic Rhodes will start to take away more carries. Marvin Harrison - WR - Colts - His injury has limited him & he should ride your bench until he shows signs of breaking out. Start Brian Griese - QB - Bears - At home vs. the Lions is as good as it gets for him. He is coming off some good fantasy plays. Completes a lot of passes for PPC leagues. Jason Wright - RB - Browns - St. Louis's defense is average and if Jamal Lewis is out he makes a solid start if you need a RB. Ben Roethlisberger - QB - An easy call against Cincinnati, plus there is a chance for a nice shoot-out if the Bengals can do something at home. Santonio Holmes and Heath Miller should have solid performances along with him. Jesse Chatman - RB - Dolphins - The one thing the Dolphins have done well all season is run the ball. Even Chatman did well early on, threatening Brown's job. The Giant rush defense id good, but not amazing (10th overall). Roydell Williams - WR - Titans - If you need a WR start during the bye, Williams is getting a lot more looks lately and has big-play ability. The Oakland secondary hasn't done a lot this season either. LenDale White - RB - Titans - Over a 100 hundred yards and a TD last week and may do the same with Brown out again. Vince Young - QB - Titans - Back from an injury just in time to play against the weak Raiders and Daunte Culpepper. Lee Evans - WR - Bills -Finally played well last week catching 5 passes for 98 yards. Should continue to improve his stats as rookie QB Trent Edwards gets comfortable. Kevin Walter - WR - Texans - Even if Matt Shaub is out someone will catch some passes and it has been Walters with 18 in the last 2 games. Better in points for receptions leagues. Ike Hillard - WR - Buccaneers - If you are desperate need of a WR Hillard may have a solid game even against a good Jaguar defense who may tire out being on the field. Week 6: Sit Thomas Jones - RB - Jets - His has been a fantasy bum and now he goes into the tough Philadelphia run defense. Vince Young - QB - Titans - On the road against a very good Buccaneer secondary. Matt Schaub - QB - Texans - On the road against an excellent Jacksonville secondary and Andre Johnson is still out. Brian Leonard - RB - Rams - The offense did improve, but it is likely to struggle in Baltimore. Earnest Graham - RB - Buccaneers - If you're in the bye-bind, start him, but the Titan run defense is stout and Graham hasn't proven he can take the load yet. Oakland Raiders - RB's - Playing in San Diego against a tough run D and are likely to play from behind. All 3 backs may split the fantasy numbers as well. Atlanta Falcon RB's - Until one steps up they are both fantasy bums. If you have to start one, we prefer Norwood because he could break a big one. Start Derrick Mason - WR - Ravens - He is coming off a 11 catch game and now has 44 total catches in 2007 and he is at home vs. the Rams. Jason Wright - RB - Browns - Miami's run defense has struggled and Jamal Lewis is out. Brian Griese - QB - If you need a QB start with the byes, Griese looked very solid last week in the big win at Green Bay. The Vikings should stuff the run, but the struggle against the pass. Maurice Jones-Drew - RB - Jaguars - Finally performed in week 5 and Taylor is injured, though he may play. Dennis Northcutt - WR Jaguars - If you need a WR start during the bye, Jacksonville at home vs. Houston is a sold start for the only WR making noise in Jacksonville. Dwayne Bowe - WR - Chiefs - At home vs. the lowly Bengals defense. Donovan McNabb - QB - Philadelphia - The Jets defense stinks and coming off the bye McNabb and Westbrook are rested and ready. Kevin Curtis - WR - Philadelphia - If McNabb does well a WR must do well and why not Curtis again? Chad Pennington - QB - Jets - We see McNabb lighting it up and, at home to stay close, Pennington will need to do the same. Jeff Garcia - QB - Buccaneers - The Titans may stuff the run but Garcia will find the end zone 2 times and toss for over 250. Ike Hillard - WR - Buccaneers - If you are need of a WR Hillard may have a solid game vs. a soft Titan secondary. Bobby Engram - WR - Seahawks - One again, if you need a start. At home vs. the awful Saints should give him at least 5 catches. Week 5: Sit Jake Delhomme - QB Panthers - His injury makes him too risky too start. Matt Leinart - QB - Cardinals - Warner will continue to sub. He is an auto-bench until this changes. Michael Pittman & Earnest Graham - RB's Tampa Bay - Playing in Indianapolis against tough Indy D with a RB by committee. Jon Kitna - QB Lions - Is due for a let down & the great Washington secondary will oblige him. Phillip Rivers - QB Chargers - Facing another tough pass defense, expect them to run over 30 times and Rivers to manage game. Chicago - Green Bay - Offenses - Only start players in this game who must start for you. Benson, Driver & Farve are the only players to start if you don't have options. Start Brandon Jacobs - RB Giants - Should see plenty of action against average Jets' D coming off his injury. Plaxico Burress - WR Giants - Playing well doubt being listed as questionable. Santonio Holmes - WR Steelers - With Ward still out he is the main man in Pittsburgh. Brandon Jones - WR Titans - Has 9 catches in last 2 games. Looking to become the main man. Brandon Marshall - WR Broncos - With Walker likely out the up & coming star should see many balls coming his way. Lee Evans - WR Bills - At home, Monday Night against an average, though improving Dallas pass defense could get the only offense for the Bills. He is a due...Over due.
