Sleeper Report: 2011 Bargain Defenses

lions
Detroit Lions
The Lion had a very solid defensive unit in 2010 finishing in the middle of the pack in most categories. but they did register 44 sacks (Pittsburgh Steelers led the league with 48).
They were led by 2010 second-overall-pick defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh and now have added defensive tackle Nick Fairley with their first pick in 2011.
In addition, much like the Rams and Cardinals, the Lions should see their defense improve from the improvement of their young offense.

St. Louis Rams
If you are one of the last to pick a defense, consider the St. Louis Rams. They finished 12th overall giving up 20.5 points a game and 7th with 43 sacks.
2008 second-overall-pick, defensive end Chris Long, continues to improve and the Rams added defensive end Robert Quinn with their #1 pick to give more fire power to an already good pass rush.
Continued improvements in the offense lead by Sam Bradford will help the defense in 2011 as well.

Arizona Cardinals
The Cardinals had a pretty lousy defense on paper in 2010, but much of that is due to an offense who kept them on the field, tired and heavily scored upon. If the Cardinals settle their quarterback position (rumors of Kevin Kolb would suffice) and improve their run game with the drafting of running back Ryan Williams, their defense will see less time on the field and thus less yards and points.
The Ryan Cardinals added the top cornerback in the draft, Patrick Peterson, with the 5th overall pick of the 2011 NFL draft and also added defensive end Sam Acho with their 4th pick.
They will make a fine last pick defense or a backup when the byes come around.
